Did Takara follow through with Decepticharge...

Recommended Posts

I remember seeing a post on this but never a confirmation.  Has anyone sent away for him?  Has he been shipped in JPN?

Well, they said it was delayed indefinatley with no new release date, then said that it will most likely show up in the BT* line at some point.

well BT 16 wildrider was put on hold then a few weeks ago thier was word he would be out in the new year with the new number BT 17 also thiers this name business eather its wild rider or black widow i hope its wild rider

Definately not Wild Rider.  Bandai lanched a challenge against the name saying it conflicts with their (Kamen?) Rider series.

Wild Laser was one possible name apparently, but i think that was dropped.

Black Widow looks like it will be the name if and when it's released.

To clarify:

People are talking about two different toys here.

There won't be a Binaltech version of Decepticharge. Takara consider the colorscheme to unrealistic.

Decepticharge = Yellow Honda S2000

Black Widow = Silver/Purple Honda S2000(?)

There was to be a competition for a 'USA Edition Decepticharge' (or simillar name)in Japan which was run through the Binaltech book.

I've not heard anything about Takara mailing any of these out. Could have happened.

Black Widow was to be a general release toy in Japan.

There was rumor and counter rumor about Black Widow, there was a rumor it was headed for the BTA line, then a rumor that it will be BT 17.

Neither has been comfirmed.

I still can't picture Black Widow being an alt though. I really would like to see how TAK intends to write that into the story.. :redface

saying wildrider conflicts with another toyline is bollocks, what do you call someone who rides wildly, wildrider, bandai can shove themselves up their own arses. IMO no body would see wildrider with that name and make that connection

i think bandi's clame will fail seeing as rider is a much used word hence autobot hound in the reissues. that also explanes why its taken so long for them to release it due to the whole name thing

i still think they should have used red rather than purple though

Hirofumi Ichikawa, the guy who writes all the BT Biogs speciffically said there were some problems  with the 'Rider' part of Wildrider.

On the face of it, it is pretty rediculous. However competition between Bandai and Takara is *extremely* fierce.  Remeber, Bandai tried to sue Takara over Predaking having a lions head on it's chest. They lost.

I would've thought it's pretty hard to gain exclusive rights on any  robot name ending with a speciffic verb or variation of that verb..... so I'm

not sure if Bandai have launched formal  legal action against Takara, but either way Takara seem to have let the matter go....
