not too bad, but a little to "built to rule"'ish for me.  I know it's legos, but why  does his face looks like a monkey?

looks neat but that head eww

Bob Saget, why couldn't I have been this creative with my legos back in the day!?

Absolutely awesome, but what bricks are holding the forearms in place?  Something seems fishy there... :schin

those arms could work but they look weird, it's the same connection on the legs

:eek

I know the guy who posted this.  I think I'll pay him a visit and swipe it! :bounce

His elbow joints are made of a lever, with the handle slotted into another lever casing, which is then connected to a Technic half-pin, plugged into a 1x1 brick.

The dual-lever casing is an unorthodox method of creating a joint, but it's one of the better ways to create a small-scale joint.

And here you go, armature instructions: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=148731

Built To Rule?  You mean this crap? 53970038_20f65c82c2_t.jpg

Aw, c'mon.  I think this 53969012_ccb6fc0039_t.jpg is a little bit better than that. 41794057_cdb20f3542_o.gif

I've built a monkey before 53969116_524730a2fd_t.jpg 53969104_910078a02e_t.jpg 53969098_fd5de32256_t.jpg but that guy was about a foot and a half tall.  On the other hand, Prime's head is only a half and inch tall 53969010_fa57d01d1f_t.jpg so considering the scale, there really aren't too many different part combinations that can be done at that size.  All things considered, that's about as close as you can get to Prime's head when building that small without getting too far out of proportion. 41794054_ee9be20bbf_o.gif

{mx-01 archon, you sound like you know a bit about LEGO -- cool! 41793815_ee2a447b1b_o.gif  Do you have a BrickShelf account or post on any LEGO websites regularly?}

Thanks, everybody!  The elbow/knee joint technique is pretty widely known and used now among LEGO builders, but the new thing that I discovered (at least, I've yet been able to find any instances of it being done before) is that the levers can be inserted directly into the shoulder sockets and underside of a LEGO minifigure torso, clicking into place, to create functionally articulated movement.  It's kind of been a quest among LEGO builders for a while now to figure out (1.) new ways to connect standard LEGO pieces to LEGO minifigure body parts, and (2.) new ways to create more poseable, minifig-sized characters.  So, I think I might have actually killed two birds with one stone with this Brickfa idea.

A "Brickfa" model can be as short or as tall as a person wants it to be, so long as it uses the lever/torso structure as it's core.

Prime was really just a test model to show how easily the basic armature design can be customized to create recognizable characters.  When Helios_Maximus emailed me about this thread, I thought it might be cool to try building another Transformer before posting here.  So, I did!  -->Megatron<--

Let me know what you guys think.  The thing about these taller Brickfas is that they're not necessarily supposed to be exact representations of the characters they're based on, but rather just stylized interpretations of them.  There certainly have been other people who've built much more exact and detailed models of Prime and Megatron, but never this small with this much poseability.  And, I kinda' like how they almost have a bit of an "anime" look to them, with their tiny torsos and disproportionate arms and legs.  I think I might try making a few more Transformers -- second to LEGO, TF's are my favorite toy of all time, and I still have all my old toys, tech specs, instruction booklets and weapons from when I was little. (Me and Helios_Maximus both started collecting them at the same time, but he's continued collecting, whereas I'm more exclusively a LEGO collector/builder now).  I think the next one I'll make is Bumblebee, but he'll be shorter, more like the height of this handsome fella' here 53976103_d2b9737a1d_t.jpg

-Mike :D

Ooh. Can't wait to see Bumblebee, CB. If you need something to emulate the show character's 'horns' the Lego Vikings minifigs look like they might make a decent look-alike.

Anychance we could get a basic "bill of parts" so we could build one ourselves?

the same from BZP,
