Transtopia HACKED!

Recommended Posts

I dought it was a personal attack, but you never know

these have to be personal attacks because why else would a hacker target something as obscure as tf fansites when their are plenty of websites that are more well known?

Well about six months ago my personel site got hacked.  Considering it was simply a repository for photos of my friends and I as well as some of my poetry the only reason a hacker had for going after it was because the server it was on had poor security, so my site, and several others hosted by that company got torched because someone wanted to prove a point.

Honestly half the time Hacking tends to be because they can.  They see a flaw and want to let everyone know its there by taging a site or breaking it.

It might have been someone annoyed at Transtopia, or it could have jsut been some bored hacker with nothing better to do who found a backdoor left cracked and decided to see what he could do.

Windows users never learn...

I hate the turks.

Well some posters are actual hackers or have friends that are hackers. When I got banned from Allspark, I had to make sure my friends didn't end up hacking their site because of that.

the thing is that some tf fans are so passionate about their opinions that they will sink to hacking a site just to get revenge at the people who disagree with them.

:pfx

It's sad, but true. Some folks just can't see the forest for the trees, and they get so caught up in their own ideas that any opposing viewpoints are practically anathema to them. The "Hulk ' analogy is a perfect point: the more you try to reason with them, the angrier they get, and the more damage they do.

As for hacking itself, it puts a frightening amount of power into the hands of individuals who are immature and undisciplined, to cause an insanely inordinate amount of damage to a site. To me, it's the same thing as taking a bucket of paint and splashing it all over someone else's painting simply because you had a disagreement with them.

But unfortunately, when you have "freedom of speech" on a message board site like Transtopia or TFans, inevitably someone is going to be offended by what someone else says. And just as inevitable is the fact that that self-same individual may not be rational or emotionally-stable enough to simply shrug the perceived slight off, and simply let life go on as usual.

In short, if it doesn't belong to them, they shouldn't be trying to ruin it. But then again, trying to tell them that would probably be pointless.

To understand a hacker you have to think like one. I worked for a bank and we battled those mofos each day. Needless to say non ever got in! Cisco makes a bad ass security agent. ;) I'll deniel service attack them right back. Plus when you do a reverse look up and find out the ip address to track em down, use google earth to find their house and egg their ass! Most meatheads won't spoof an IP address. Amateurs!
