Whew.  Glad to see Starscreamer buzz in with a little love for Masterforce.  I agree, that show is great.

I can only see a limited comparison to Power Rangers.  Like the zords, the robots are controlled by human "pilots."  Like the yellow ranger, there are a few characters whose gender seems a little enigmatic.  But for the most part, I wouldn't compare the two.  I think PR has so many cheesy/lame aspects that Masterforce does not fall into and I wouldn't want someone thinking that Masterforce has those (no good stories, static characters, reused plot structure in every episode).

I will agree though that it is unlike other Transformers shows you may be used to.  But the counter of that is that I feel it fills a small void left in G1.  The first 2 seasons of G1 took place for the most part on earth.  The "origin" story of the Transformers was about how they came to earth.  The planet was an integral part of the appeal imo.  Not only was it a story of giant robots; it was a story of giant robots in our backyard.  After the movie, most of the action was taken away from earth.  So imo, Masterforce does a good job of telling a story of what is taking place on our planet while Rodimus, Chromedome, and the rest are still off doing their thing elsewhere.  It kind of gives us back the feeling of alien robots on Earth that was lost after TF the Movie.

I suggest watching at least the first 10 episodes to decide for yourself.  I know that is quite a few, but the show does take a while to really get going.

I have only seen the first 9 episodes since i bought it on VHS on ebay in 1999.  It got boring and then it was C6 quality video.  The headmasters I saw it all.  And Victory I haven't seen a single episode.

i always figured star saber took after optimus prime and grimlock as a leader and as a fighter

that song they play in victory episode 1 on  that wild west style world it almost sounds like they took a piece from the good the bad and the ugly song wise. it plays just before starsaber walks down that large hill

these are a set of lyrics i thought up that could work if the showhad aired in english here in the states back in the day

no one can stop them now the time for peace is over

we must stand united as the gaurdians of the earth

humans and autobots transformed into mighty warriors

so that they can defend our world from the evil of the decepticons

transform and unite now  humans and autobots merged into one

we will risk our lives until the end

masterforce go and fight now to defend our brave new world

masterforce humans transformed to fight

masterforce transform and roll out now

we must save the day. come on we must press on to restore the peace

masterforce

i think theyre at least a halfway decent set of lyrics to start with.

lets see if anyone can do bettere then that.

Zone was cool though. at least it had micromasters.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Actually, Victory had a good set of micromasters in it. Landcross is a Micromaster combinter, Dinoking is a micro pretender combiner (and a damn cool one as well), Fixit has a team of 3 others, and they go to the planet of Micromasters.

Mind you, I don't hate Victory, not in the least. Has a GREAT Decepticon team...it's just that the Autobots are soooo overpowered....

well, i like victory ans zone, the figure design and animation are all quite good, only shortage is the end of zone, seems a little strange
