What if (BM) Nightscream had been a Predacon?

Recommended Posts

well if factions are comletely irrelevant - then how do we know WHAT he was pre-virus?

I mean clearly by the time BM comes around - ANYONE with a beast mode (and spark for that matter) is labled a "Maximal".

and everyone else is either a drone or one of Meg's Hand picked elites

They're all called Maximals because that's what they are.

I might be wrong here, but I always thought that the Maximals were the evolved forms of the Autobots, and the Preds the evolved form of the Decepticons.  They had their bodies scaled down in size to make them less fuel consumptive, due to Energon shortages.  Since the Autobots won the Great War, their decendants ruled over Cybertron, and the Predacons were enslaved, like their Decepticon ancestors.

At least, that's what I was able to discern out of BW/BM :thumb

This is what I was imagining: someone like a BW Dinobot-type figure. Let's say that a Predacon escaped Megatron's virus, and he wasn't too thrilled about what Megatron had done, so he decides to join the Maximals in order to fight his new world order etc. I just think it could have been a nice way to add a more complex character into the mix.

like black arachnia?

by that point BA was a maximal through and through

No.

You started this Topic as a what if... assuming that TFs were "what they are" like a race.

But so far the discussion has completely revolved around CHOICES an individual TF might make. which indicates that "Maximal" and "Predicon" are in fact Alegences or almost nationalities. But not even that.

So If they are inherantly something - then Dinobot and BlackArachnia ARE Predacons Through and Through.

But if the labels are arbitray - then the factions are designated by who ever is in charge or whoever is Initiating the conflict.

Thus WHATEVER Nightscream was before - he is now a Maximal by default

Primal etal. would have had no reason to trust or not trust him based on who they Assume he used to work for because they didnt know ANYTHING about him when they met - EXCEPT ONE THING:

MAXIMALS had BeastModes & Sparks

As did he - thus they teamed up.

I think you misunderstood the question I was asking. I meant, from a writer's standpoint, what if the character of Nightscream hadn't been a Maximal survivor, but had been a Predacon instead? I only used the name "Nightscream" in order to provide a context for said character's appearance in the show.

I'm sure that's the way the Predacons would have put it... who knows, though. I really don't want this to devolve into a "the good guys are really the bad guys" thread.

But Still factions are Arbitrary-

I mean in the Cut and Good & Evil of G1 - yeah factions mean something

but in the case of ONE tyrant commiting Genocide -

its irrelevant what "team" they may or may not have played for in the past...

Nightscream = Rumble. Or Frenzy. Never could keep their names apart.

Well that's one of the questions you'd need to ask, isn't it? To what extent would Megatron's actions influence a Predacon? Looking at the characters of Dinobot and Blackarachnia in BW, it would certainly seem that there was something beyond just a name to being a Predacon. Would this character have felt some sense of loyalty or sympathy toward Megatron's goals? And if he doesn't side with Megatron, does that mean that he would side with the Maximals? I'm just trying to encourage some creative thought, that's all.

I think you misunderstood my post:

Notice that all my points are in reference to personal Choices a Generic TF might make.

I never Referenced Nightscream.

And to clarify- IF he was some other Predacon and not *Character as placeholder*

His situation would have still required him to Scan an organic Fossile in the depths of cybertron.

OK maybe it wouldnt have been a BAT - maybe it was *placeholder animal name* but my point still remains.

Nightscream = Rumble. Or Frenzy. Never could keep their names apart.

I like this idea - but i think its more of an animators injoke/fanservice rather than Cannon.

Of course if we accept this possibility - then It DOES answer LMH's question:

Rumble WAS a decep/Pred

and He DID need to scan an organic mode to survive

and thus

IF *placeholder character* was a Predacon (Rumble) then he would have ended up siding with the Maximals and becoming a Maximal in order to survive

So did Predacons... :tfhuh

Anyway, his beast mode or whatever isn't the point. I was only trying to stimulate some discussion about "gee wouldn't that have been interesting if...". I wasn't trying to answer a question as much as just throw out some possibilities.

This is a slight tangent, but one of the BM toys was originally going to be a 'Heroic Predacon.' BM Buzzsaw was intended to be BW Buzzsaw.
