i do i must say i mistransform pritty much all of the energon autobot duluxes when combined and i also mistransform the alt/bt repaints so they look more unique e.g. taking off swindles doors bending sideswipes legs inword so they look like alt/bt mirages and giving him door wings.

Changing things around from what they're 'supposed' to be is half the fun of Transformers.

Sometimes, if you mean in the case of getting kibble out of the way. The only one I actively have mistransformed is Alt. Hound. I have it where instead of having the tall legs, he has stubby feet.

Sometimes, if it actively benefits a figure, or it is the "Show accurate" transformation.

 

I do a lot of small things, like BT Prowl having bumper kneecaps, and moving kibble into a more aesthetically pleasing place.

I try to make my figs a un show accurate as possible...

I fold the doors on G1 Jazz back and never used the shoulder rocket to maintain the toon appearance. I also only use one of Wheeljacks shoulder rockets and leave the other bagged. 

I honestly don't know.  If I can do a decent job of making it look like the picture on the back by myself, I don't look at instructions.

I tend to mistransform Energon Prowl when combined with another just for the extra pair of arms. Also I like to fiddle with some to find extra modes like I found the Gun and the Cannon mode of GF Gasket.

I always use the instructions. But I do titivate them slightly to my own taste, especially re-paints of the same mould.
