Yeah I think they meant prowl.

Sunstreaker is alright. I think the BTA version looks better than the Alt, but since I care very little for Sunstreaker (and will use him for kitbash -- I'll use my yellow Tracks as Sunstreaker) I'm not going for the BTA.

 

alert...now there's a different story. With the botcon revelation that unlike Takara, Hasbro will make the their third Subaru into Ricochet, I very much doubt alert will see a Hasbro release. I Like alert so much that I will simply have to buy him. Another BT for me. Having AI with it, is an expensive bonus.

 

Must also say I really like these new BTA boxes. Wish Hasbro would package the Alts that way. A whole lot better than those new Cybertron-style boxes Hasbro now plans on using.

Really, mine along with a ton of other peoples, are better then both of these versions.

I very much doubt alert will see a Hasbro release.

I don't think we'll see a Subaru - Red alert as a Hasbro release either.

 

Here's my thinking:  We have BT/Alt Prowl who's a police car Autobot - his Decepticon repaint will probably be a "street-racing" version of the Integra/RSX, and Takara probably plans on doing this particular version as well.  Since Hasbro seems set on using each mold a third time, it wouldn't surprise me if there will be a repaint of the Prowl as Red alert (with a new head).  However, Takara doesn't plan on doing this particular version of the figure (except maybe importing a few as "USA Editions").

 

Now in G1, Prowl was the same kind of car as Smokes and Streak - Takara figures they'll do this repaint as part of the BTA line, but in G1 Prowl's Alt Mode colors and use alert as the robot character.

I had to read it over again  :tfevil  , but yeah, it makes sense to me. However, I wwon't exclude the possibility that Tak will also release a Red alert (First Aid?). alert is a police car (like diaclone version of G1 Red alert) so a fire chief is still possible.

 

So far, every alt/bt released have two similar figs: one by hasbro, one by Takara (wit the Honda as the exception). Where the third release is concerned (granted, there are only three known), we've only seen one similar character: Sunstreaker als de Dodge. The Subaru varies (Tak=alert, Has=Ricochet) as well as the Chevy (Tak=yellow, Has=Swerve). Has now has announced Rollbar and I wouldn't be surprised if Tak goes with Trailbreaker.

 

Ah, well. Time will tell. We can wish/think all we want, but: simply wishing it, doesn't make it so.

I'm kind of glad Hasbro gives us something other than just straight repaints (outside of SS)... I mean, I do appreciate it... I just find myself wanting everything, and I can't afford BT's right now :(
