I really fail to see how they could make them a whole lot better, short of going Masterpiece quality or giving them working headlights/motors.

I think the designer was saying they'd have better detailing and probably more intricate transformations.  However, I think this would make them even more "fiddly" than they are now.

Jag, so do you get the impression Takara wanted to compete with the likes of Yamato?

That excites and frightens me. On the one hand, uber detailed and intricate. On the other, a heckuva lot more fragile and only suitable for display. Not that it matters since I don't play with my toys but...

I've owned my fair share of high end Japanese toys and TF'ing them is an excercise in patience and "if you F up, this is really gonna cost ya".

I have Found Every figure except Shockblast...

I have seen WJ twice and passed (though if i only got One mustang i would have preferred him to Grimlock)

I have seen Three Swerve's and purchased one.

One DCharge and bought him (dissapointed now....)

havent looked for prowl...

Hell, I live in Memphis which is a major city, and one TRU in one of the nicer 'burbs just put a minty fresh case of Grim and Swindle.  Ugh....

Swerve was in that case with them.  Releasing more Grimlocks I can understand, but Swindle is a huge  :wtf  .

Gonna hafta disagree bout Swindle.  He's the Kung Fu Master as far as Im concerned.  But then Im biased toward Jeeps, and every other Jeep tf up until that one has been a big fat steaming pile of monkey sh!t.

I like Swindle, too.

The problem is that he's the biggest shelfwarmer since the first two.  It took a long time to clear him out from stores, then once he was gone Hasbro put him in the Swerve assortment.  The four Targets nearest to me have at least four Swindles, with no other figures (except for the one that has three Swindles and two Sideswipes) - and every single Swindle represents two Grimlocks and a Swerve that sold like hotcakes.

I'm wondering if it's just Montreal, or other Canadian cities that are getting crappy distribution...

I pass by Wal-Marts and TRUs often enough, and I can *STILL* see an abundant amount of Smokescreens, Hounds and Silverstreaks.  I've come across a total of 2 Swindles, and a handful of Sideswipes in the past 6+ months.  I can honestly say that I've never even seen the rest of 'em on the shelves at all...

Maybe I'm not looking hard enough, but it really sucks that I can't just casually stroll into a store and at least have a decent selection of recent models to choose from...
