Early images from first day BotCon show the commemorative Astrotrain on display.  According to this report on the Hasbro-Takara panel, Astrotrain'll also be the last of the commemorative reissues.  The molds for Mirage and Wheeljack seem to be gone.  So from the sounds of it, while molds apparently exist for some of the other chars that were released by Takara, the bottleneck here in the US is lack of sufficient distributor power with the backing out of TRU.  Pretty inneresting..

how can this be the only reissue we are getting? didn't p. prime also said that he got a second reissue too? I think he said it somewhere in TFW. :wtf

I still can't believe that they can't re-create the molds.  It's a relatively simple process using reverse engineering.  If engineers can put a man on the moon, then what's the problem here?

Looks very legit to me. What 's strange to me is the choice of colors. I would expect Hasbro to bring the original Astrotrain. I like this color scheme because it gives him a more "realitsic" look (though I don't use that as a criteria when shopping for Transformers). In the end I'll take it in whatever color it may come as long as I can own one! :D

PS:

That box looks weird. What was in series 8? 9 already? Did the Richochet re-issue come with a Japanese sticker sheet?

Don't really care. If you want your G1 fix, go for Takara.

Also, the closest supposedly upcoming reissue that would have come out was Ramjet, since we had a prototype of his wings last year I think.

this is the end. this is the end of dog racing.

Yea can't they just buy the toy off ebay and copy it? That's what the bootleggers do! Except Hasbro can afford higher quality packaging.

His gun is GINORMUS. I don't remember it being that big but am pleasantly surprised.

sigh, I still have to find skids and now Astrotrain.
