Transformers: Armada

Recommended Posts

Ok, I just received a copy of Transformers: Armada on some questionable VCD's from a friend of mine, and I've watched the whole series as a continuous effort, here's my thoughts:

1. Waaaaay to many filler episodes.  They wasted far too many episodes doing bugger all. I mean, they weren't even like BW side episodes, that were at least entertaining. The Space Team for instance. We get it the minicon's don't want to fight. Is it really neccessary to have them run away with the kids to some farm in the middle of nowhere and pretend their human and hide? :wtf Stupid, stupid stuff.

2.  Damn kids.  Damn you Carlos, Billy and Fred. You annoying little bastards. Alexia and Rad (stupid name) where alright, I actually found them to be less annoying than Spike and Daniel were.

3. Descent story arc. Ignoring the filler episodes (which are the only things I remember from watching it weekly on air) , there actually was a fairly descent story arc to this thing. I mean, the minicons were a Pokemon ripoff, but halfway through the series they just decide to bugger off for their own purposes, Sideways, Thrust and the Hydra Cannon, Optimus getting slagged, Unicron, and finding out the original purpose of the Minicons. Also, the conflict with Wheeljack being a Decepticon out of honour to his pledge was pretty cool.

4. Lousy voice acting. If I ever meet the people who did the voices of Cyclonus and Demolisher, I'm going to punch them.

5. Good voice acting.  If I ever meet Gary Chalk, David Kaye,  Michael Dobson or Scott McNeil, I'll buy them a beer. In fact, I'll buy Scott McNeil as many as he wants.

6. Final Optimus and Megatron fight.  This goes up there in the Hall of Fame of "Cool TF fights" along with TF: The Movie, BW Nemesis showdown, and Rattrap going into his "Kneivel" mode in The Agenda.

So my opinion of this show has changed somewhat. When it went to air, the ungodly amount of filler eps was all I noticed. Now that I've seen the whole thing end to end, there's a lot more to it than I was willing to give it credit for before.

You left out the crappy anti-climactic unicron battle that reduced the entire story arc to a pile of $h!t :tfpuke

Add to that the unavailability of a FULL SERIES DVD RELEASE forcing us to resort to dodgy vcd's and not to forget the pal DVD's 3-4 eps a disk at $24.95 a disk!! :grr

FYI 15 volumes at $24.95 =$374.25  about $287.43 USD :guh  :guh  :guh

Hence the questionable VCD's.

you mention good point but you have to remember the target age they are after, us hardcore fans look at it differntly but they are trying to get new fans ...

they know we will stick to them no matter how crappy the show is...

but still i kind of liked it

Even though your positive on the final analysis, I don't think you have me convinced to buying any of this series. Truth be told, I found the series awful when they aired (granted, I had to endure Dutch dubbing, which was really REALLY bad !!!!)

One of my biggest problems with Armada, besides the annoying kids, was the slow pacing of the main storyline. I think a whole lot of eps could've been scrapped to give the story some higher pacing. It all went too slow, IMO.

I still can't see what's so annoying about the humans... or am I supposed to overanylize everything like you ppl do?

And I liked Armada...

Meh, they just where there and that is usually enough to annoy most TFans. I wasn't always that annoyed by them, more like 50%. And that final fight indeed was awesome and a satisfactory conclusion to the series.

Plus I liked the Sideways thing a lot.

OMG! I feel like I've been zapped into a time warp and landed in 2 years ago. :wtf
