what i ment here was that they pakage these in HUGE over the top bixes to hike up the shipping, where smaller box with a bit of thought works just as fine and just as safe for the product.

Dude must have set the calculation based off half a million in insurance on them, then he'll send them uninsured for $25

i never ever charged handling and stuff. always done the packaging by myself with what i had home. but ok i don't sell that much so maybe people who sell a lto might not want to pass their days packing boxes. but this is insane.

as for the rest... i hate (and i hate them indeed) morons that ship only to US.

As I've speculated in another thread, I think the fees that eBay charges the seller are based on percentage formulas of the sale value and (by my reading of eBay's fee list) NOT the shipping costs.

So a seller who sells an item for $100 + $20 shipping pays eBay based on the $100.  While a seller who sells an item for $20 + $100 shipping pays based on only $20.  They're trying to pay eBay less (and if there are hapless buyers who don't read the full shipping disclaimer, that's probably fine for them too).  This could be one of the response tactics to the fee increases eBay has been making that sellers have been complaining about..

I've been noticing this, particularly amongst the shadier-looking sellers.  They ask low buy/bid amounts but have exorbitant shipping costs, such as with the Trailer for MP Prime: $10 + $90 shipping, where the total cost seems to be sorta close to the general cost of the entire item..

what you say completely makes sense.

though, still i would never bid on an auction with too high shipping even if probably the ending amount would be even lower than a "normal" shipping auction. and i would not do this only because when a starting bid is low and shipping too i am prone to hope that maybe i could get it for cheap while with high shipping costs i already envision myself paying lots of money which kinda "prevents" me from bidding.

sucks.

the more peole that do this the more buisness my I will see along with other good seller. Works for me...jerks...So you have to pay ebay a small amount, it's realy not that bad. Compare it sometime to what a profesional auctions in the real world go for...heavy heavy seller fees. It usualy come out to be like 10% of whatever i sell that ebay gets.
