Devastator Custom/Kitbash

Recommended Posts

ok, so I'm planning a possible custom/kitbashed Devastator.

I'm thinking of picking up a set of construction-vehicle toys, possibly from someplace like Big!Lots or Dollar General..

I found a set of electronic ones (packaged individually) at K-Mart for something like $3.50 each. I'm assuming the electronics either move certain parts of the vehicles, or provides sounds, or both. They're decent size (at least twice the size of a Constructicon, I think), with good level of detailing.

Problem is, while there is a bulldozer, front-loader, back-hoe/shovel, and maybe a mixer (I forget at the moment), there are two different dump-trucks. Now, while I could probably just use one of the dump-trucks for Hook's role, it really wouldn't be authentic. then there's the issue of the electronics. I have no idea how extensive they are.. if I could incorporate them into the custom's design, or if I'd have to somehow gut them.

Any of you have suggestions on good sets I could consider for this?

Ideally, I'm looking for a set of six vehicles that closely match the original Constructicons. I don't think that'll be much of a problem, except for Hook (the crane).

Bear in mind that this particular project is just one of several others, not the least of which is my Alternators Bumblebee (New Beetle, baby!!), so there's no real rush at the moment to find my 'Constructicons', but I thought I'd throw it out there and see if I can get some help in tracking 'em down. :)

you will probably have to gut the electronics out of them, unless they just happen to cause the vehicle to move in a way that would transform it into part of devestator

I went back and took a closer look. The electronics apparently just make them roll.

There are only 5 of 'em, too. Loader, Dozer, Shovel, Gravel Truck and Quarry Truck. :P

I guess my search continues. They would've been perfect, though. They even have slightly cartoonish proportions, but not so much that they're totally unrealistic. Difficult to describe. :-/

Ah, well..
