Okay.  I got God Ginrai yesterday, and I got to thinking.  We all know that Powermaster Prime came about as a result of Prime's brain algorithms being saved onto a disk during his virtual showdown with Megatron and then being rebuilt as a Powermaster thanks to Hi-Q.  Okay, origin done and dealt with.

 

Now, where's Apex/God Bomber from.  What's his story.  Where does he fall as far as grouping is concerned.  Is a special kind of Powermaster since he can combine with PM Prime in both vehicle and robot modes.

He was never introduced in the US until the reissue, so for a US origin it's hard to say

 

As far as Japan tho where he originated, he was a drone built for Ginrai that he could control by remote, and it could then combine with Super Ginrai to form God Ginrai.

Well, I was asking for the Jap info because I know he was never released in the U.S. until the reissue.

He was built so Super Ginrai could travil into space and fight Black Zarak.

well.the god bomber comes out in Japan masterforce.may be in about 25 episode.

some scientist work out god bomber and use it to overcome overlord and black zark.

when prime and god bomber merged,they start off. but he couldn't stand against overlord and blackzarak on the moon.Finally, grand max help god ginrai, and win...

God Bomber, if I remember rightly, was made out of the same metal as all of the other Godmasters too, and the plans came from Grand (headmaster of Grand Maximus). So it's not like some humans came together and said "hey! lets make a trailer for this guy for some reason!".

Hawk (a pretender) was the one leading the construction of God Bomber, if I recall rightly. Something that is worth pointing out though, when Ginrai/Super Ginrai are seperated from God Bomber, sometimes it transforms and moves entirely on its own (I think it does it on its own, anyway, been a while since I'd seen the eps). So there are some mysteries surrounding it, too.

In the US, the Apex armor is an upgraded roller

 

 

I have this idea that Optimus is getting burned out in his old age.  Fighting the good fight against the big bad Megatron has taken his toal on him, resulting on him trying more and more ways to strengthen his resolve.

 

Or more like a burned out weight lifter on sterroids, he starts out with the power master upgrade, and when that isn't enough he builds up to the super power master mode, combining with the trailer.  When one trailer full of power isn't enough, he orders a second one resulting in God Bomber, who may have been a drug councelor but was mind whiped by prime because he didn't want to hear any gripe.  Then he got killed and went nuts being rebuilt into the lion robot that has to merge with Starsaber to regain some kinda sanity. 

 

Somewhere along the lines he dies, and gets resurrected as star convoy, basicly sounds like a shell of optimus in the new form, with hotrod (also following the path of power ups) fueling the way.
