I'm new to the G1 cartoon

Recommended Posts

Last December, I've picked up TF G1 Season 1 on DVD. I have only volumes 1-2 right now. After I watched a couple of these episodes, I liked it. To be honest, i never got into Tf until BW was popular. I hope it isn't too late to check out G1, is it?

it's never too late to get into G1, the original and the best IMO

I bet the same would go for Star Wars too.

my fav g1 characters so far are optimus prime, megatron, ironhide, starscream, prowl, and maybe jazz.

how long did g1 aired on tv back in the 80's?

I think they showed it on TV till '88, then brought it back with Transformers Generation 2 in '92 I believe.

As for G1, it's good because it's classic. Looking back, it wasnt about complex storylines, but because it was fun to watch.

It wasnt till BW when they got actual serious plots, but I still have a spot in my heart for G1.

Oh yeah, and Jazz is the best

I never saw the G2 show, was it all CG or somethin'?

I'm not sure, I think it was the beginning opening was CGI animated.

G2 was an abomination. All they did was take G1 episodes (nothing wrong with that) And they added these horrible CG scene transitions and every once in a while little screens would pop up or the picture would rotate or something awful would happen...it was a failed attempt at making the old show seem new and XTREME to kids. Basically, it was like a bad CG rubix cube from hell covered with scenes from the show. IT WAS GODAWFUL. :tfpuke :tfpuke :tfpuke

Y'know, my biggest problem with the G2 repackaging was that it didn't match the toys. In G2, Megatron was supposed to be a tank and the Autobots and Decepticons had different logos.

Instead of all that CGI stuff (the Powermaster prime intros were kinda cool) I would have rather had a team of artists go in and change the colors/logos/decals of the characters to match the G2 toys and re-do Megatron's scenes as a tank since that's what G2 Megatron was.

I would have watched it more if it had the new visuals even if the episodes were otherwise the same.

I never heard of G2 or watched G1 in this kind of form. To be honest, I was born in 1987. And if G2 aired in 1992, I could have been a TF fan already back then. I could have been a fan like about way before BW, RID, or Armada.

G1 and G2, when they were aired on TV, what network were they on?
