Settling the argument. Once and for all

The Reason why us G1 fans will always love G1 over all the other Transformer Manifestations is because each character was Iconic you were able to find your soul in a transformer and that transformer described you.  You also felt for the characters although the story lines were cheesy there were ones where you were like wowed.

For example when optimus had sent roller into the burma mine and he wondered what took so long and he was blown off the cliff how they slow mowed his trailer tumbling down the mountain.

Or when megatron was escaping back to cybertron and he asked for sunstreakers jet pack.  Then was shot down by megatron's ship you saw how he hit the ground and was still mad.

those are just a few and when the movie came out forget it i had my mouth open the whole time cause characters I grew to love were getting killed left and right.  For many times for them to have percaveared in the tv series only to be barely making it by in the movie was intelligent and thought provoking.  Its when G2 came in that it began to suck.  I hated the whinny Rodimus.  Loved him as hot rod cocky and headstrong.  Then he gets the matrix and turns into the nannybot.  You could see it in the storytelling you didn't care if these guys got killed or not.  With G1 you did  I remember when R C dragged in wheeljack I was like holy crap Wheeljacks face is gone. When I got the dvd I was pausing it to see how many characters I knew by name was getting blown away.

That what made beast wars endearing as well you cared for the characters as well I was a big dinobot fan.  When he got killed I was like whoa.  and then when They did the Ark storyline and Optimus' head got blown up I was like wow.  What great continuity.

I couldn't tell you anthing about Beast Machines because where I live it was cancelled before I could see the ending (if there was an ending)  But I was lost from the moment the arrived back on cybertron and megatron was in control.  That was never explained to me how he was strapped to the shuttle and then he was the ruler of Cybertron with this big ass droid army, and that whole bullcrap about bringing the organic back to Cybertron, that didn't make any sense at all

Any way I can go on for days but to sum it all up G1 had the most impact because it had the most enduring and lasting characters. :thumb

I think that G2 Introduced to many characters at once.  You never got a chance to get to know them :redface

Beast Wars did it right you got to know each character as they developed and when a new one arrived you got to know them as well. good writing and good plot lines. :clap

the rest I'm just gonna keep my mouth shut. :tdown

there was an explenation given for Megatron's getting off of the shuttle, it was just never directly stated in the show....

oh, and that entire post comes off as elitest and stuff. I pretty much grew up with G1. that was the only transformers I knew show wise until 1999. it's not as iconic as you make it out to be. you gots nostalga goggles on. i know I do with the first season of G1 and the movie.

so by g2 you mean season 3 im guessing. and it was sideswipes jetpack. sorry im just trying to be as much of a dick as possible. and you are kinda reading a lil to much into this. and i dont really think in any of the g1 episodes there was a whole lot of character developement past the first season. it was just about selling toys. however in bw and bm there was quite a bit of character development due to the fact that only about half of the toys produced ever made the show. if you wanna talk about high points or even emotional points in the shows id say the only noteworthy ones were when optimus dies, or dinobot dies in bw(the first time). but lets not forget: its just a cartoon.

Everything in Beast Machiens was explained as clear as day.

I felt that Armada Starscreams death was more moving than Dinobot's/

trukk not monkey

Optimus Primal pwns Prime.

I saw the G1 movie, but to me Dinobot's death was so much bigger. Really he came from an side that the Maximals didnt trust. He showed himself as an true hero and he died saving the early humans. Of course it's just a cartoon, like G1.

Great.  Another G1 vs everything else topic.

People like different things for different reasons.  Some feel Beast Wars was the pinnacle of animation.  To others, Energon was the best show.  Others like all of them.  There's even a few around who liked Beast Machines the most ( :luv to Madhammer).

Just let it drop.

I really really want to say something inflammatory....

but Wildling is right. Stop comparing shows to each other. It only causes divisions in the fandom.
