i spent about a half an hour trying to get that stupid pin out and i couldnt, but ill keep trying, the window one is realy tough too, i would heat one of the pins and try to pull it out but the other pin wouldnt let it budge any, i guess i have to heat both at the same time, its too bad that i only have one soldering iron to do the job

petty much everything now is taken apart and ready to be cleaned, primed and painted. the only thing i still have to take apart is the legs and his wind sheild(window), if i have to ill just mask off all the parts but it would be a hell of alot easier to just take it apart, ill give it one more try and if i cant get them out then ill just mask it

Do yourself a favor: mask off the clear parts. It's very easy to scratch or otherwise damage windows while kitbashing. Believe me, it'll save you grief down the line.

did you get the pins out of the legs yet? It takes a while for the pin to get hot enough to pull the leg assembly apart. At least it did for me.

as far as paint, i would use fusion, on my first one i primed and then painted, and some of the paint chipped off. with the fusion i havent had that problem yet

i wanna try something else to paint it, ive used krylon fusion on my pg wing zero (can be seen in my photobucket) and it looked lumpy and wasnt smooth, idk if its me but im just used to using an airbrush, its alot smoother than a can of paint is

It's possible you were holding the paint too close or possibly were moving to fast (or perhaps too slow, but I doubt speed is the issue with evenness so much as thickness of coats). The can lists 10-12 inches, and I never go closer than eight.  It doesn't have the same fine control as an airbrush, but I've gotten much better and easier results once I familiarized myself with the proper techniques (testing on cardboard, junk plastic parts, etc).

I will as soon as I can get a Decepticharge figure.

Is this a pshopped schematic to see how this would look, or is this an official drawing?

The drawing is official but the colours aren't. The original pic is in black and white and is a scan from the BT book. Pics can be seen at Remy's site.

You are correct, my Dinobot-headed aquaintance.

I ought to grab other schematics and do the same for more than my Mustang repaints, since it worls a lot better than just recoloring photos of the toys themself.

crap crap crap, i messed up on the interior paint job and i tried brake cleaner to remove the paint, it worked real good but for some reason the break cleaner went into a crack that must have formed before i did the project and it expanded the crack and broke the peice right off

the part that broke off was the shifter box and the back of the interior, hopefully theres a way to fix it

That sucks...I hate when bad stuff happens during a bash!

Don't worry though...at least you should be able to go to Toys R' Us and get another two-pack with Smokescreen and Sideswipe...and you could just remove the piece you need real quick and start again!

I'm sure you could sell the Smokescreen...

well ive got most of the interior painted now, ive fixed the broken parts problem and ive gotten the windshield off of the dash board and i will be painting that tomorrow along with the door panels, the white just doesnt look good by itself though and i want to try to add a little bit of blue or black in the middle of the interior(center console and speaker area)

btw, i used krylon fusion semi gloss white, it still turned out bumpy but im not gonna try to redo it again because i might skrew it up more than i did the last time i tried to take paint off
