Takara Dissolved

Recommended Posts

i doubt it will affect the USA much really. Tomy is simply a Japanese company. Hasbro likely wont change its direction after the merger. they're stubborn like that. even IF Tomy releases new and cooler TFs, it will likely only be in Japan and cost an arm and a leg to buy in the USA. i mean, look at reissue Galvy at BBTS. he costs $60.00. SIXTY DOLLARS! i wouldnt even pay THIRTY for that thing

It may only pose a problem if Tomy decides to distribute Transformers in areas outside of Japan. Takara distributes in Japan, Sonokong in Korea and Hasbro (essentially) everywhere else. The other distribution companies Antex, Gig and Estrela do not exist anymore. Hasbro has no market in Japan except for Takara's USA Edition toys. And Takara has no distribution in the United States. Tomy has distribution in both the United States and Japan.

An issue may arrise because Tomy will have the same contract with Hasbro that Takara currently has. When renewal time comes around (we never hear about this in the fandom) Tomy may decide it would rather save money and release the toys domestically in the US.

It would be a problem if Tomy insists on distributing TF in the US.

Although I wouldn't be surprised if Tomy doesn't make an attempt to purchase the TF rights from Hasbro.

This is exciting. I hope something either changes or everything stays the same. I can't wait. Weeeee!

like Hasbro would sell them. transfomers makes too much money, and the movie is coming in less than two years.
