why do non-fans constantly try to

This temp guy worked with me for a while. On day one he saw my Transformers at work. He said the My work space reminded him of his bedroom as a kid. The next day however he proceeded to tell me that his mother put all his original toys in storage and he did know. So he has all the original G1 Transformers still in the box in storage.  :wtf

Later he tried to impress me even more by letting me know that he has a connect with Hasbro and he gets every new Transformers figure that comes out. When ever a new fig comes out they go straight to his storage. I found this odd as Hasbro ships products in cases and there is no guarantee what you will get. I tried to explain to him that this is impossible but he reassured me that he has a Contact that can get Hasbro to send him One single new fig. He lost all credibility with me and his presence drove me crazy.

This dude looked like up bum but he but then he had the nerve to tell me about his American Express Black Card!!!!!  Im like this, this guy is working here with me form a temp agency and he's telling me he has a Black Card. I thought my head would explode!

try talking to a spouse that doesn't... lol .. you want some rough times? :-P

To be totally honest, very few people I know ridicule my hobby.  The ones I mention it to are like "oh yeah I remember those!"  Enough people have good memories of it to not see it as something stupid.  Even my students enjoy watching me surf eBay before school or seeing my latest acquisition (I have stuff sent to the school during the school year).

IMHO, those that do are closet fanboys.  They are at the site.. what are they  doing here if they aren't fanboys?

my 2 cents

huh...at least in US & Europe, TF collecting is kinda cool... here in asia, specifically in Malaysia where i am in right now, boy...you should hear some of the comments..."why spend 240 ringgits (thats our local currency, about 63USD) on a TOY!...hello, your toy can eat isst? (exact way some people speak english here!) or "Wasting money only"

grrr....that really riles me up!

anyways.. here's more reactions from Malaysians in general towards TF & Toy collectors

I got a friend who tells me Omega Supreme is the largest transformer made. duh?

Maybe they're just trying to make small talk?

Maybe they're just trying to make small talk?

I rather small talk over the Lies I had to endure dealing with the Nutbag I had to work with. For me when some one has an interest I ask them to elaborate, not pretend I am also interested. This guy was Wacked out. He told me he got 20th Prime for his alledged son who lives out of state(Side note: Im looking at this guy and I'm sorry everything about him screamed  :ghey I'm thinking"What female slept with this guy. It was like he'd tell me about his "shorty" who was "female" but then I come in the mailroom and he'd be on site's like http://www.undergear.com/product.asp?produ...A=&Au=RollupKey

Talkin' bout "I'm gonna rock this at the beach this summer. What do you mean guys don't dress like that. See, Im from NY, and styles are a little different there.") Back to story I show him My 20th Prime one day and he didn't recognize it as something he'd come in contact with.  :tdown

your joking transformers are so unpopular here in the uk its not even funny. i live in a city of 60,000 people and i dont know of any other fans. the uk prefers preschool crap. i have to inport nearly every transformer. i cant talk about transformers to anyone. i try talking to my mates about it and before i even start they are taking the p!ss

I've never had anyone try and BS me about TFs.  I think the fact that the people I talk to about them outside of the boards are all friends that I've known for awhile might have something to do with it though.

Just you wait.

My Masterpiece 22nd anniversary Wheelie will be here any day now. I bought him on eBay for $4500. It was expensive but it's a Tapwara exclusive that is illegal in the U.S. for sale because this kid, Randy Beaman, shot one of the rockets in his mouth and almost choked to death.

'kay, bye.
