why anyone would expect to get leaked information two weeks in advance.

Who does? People occasionally get bits of info in advance, but I don't think anyone expects it... well, some webmasters seem to throw hissy fits about another site finding something out first, but that's about it.

edit: It does seem incredibly stupid to risk a position by disseminating employers' copyrighted stuff, but that doesn't put others who do so by publishing it in a public environment in a better position.

Probably a poor choice of words then. I didn't really mean "expect" as such.

So, people get news a couple of weeks in advance, but don't tell anyone. They don't have anyone to discuss it with, what's the point in anyone knowing in advance? Might as well wait and find out with the rest of us proles.

If it's just a mates "look at this, it's cool" thing, fair play, but it sounds with all the talk about "scoops" and "sources" like it was less chummy than that.

I dunno, if my boss tells me something in confidence and I email 20 friends about it and he finds out, my ass is so fired. Not sure it makes anyone happy for that to have happened in this instance, but I find it strange anyone's surprised or feels it was unfair.

Yay for Primus. Boo to stupid people arguing over miniscule things :P

Only talk of scoops I've seen has been the dedicated news-oriented sites, who didn't know anything or have pics until someone broke that "circle of trust" thing. Pick one friend wrong (insofar as they have the poor judgement to forward things on) and you're screwed.

It's not often so many fan sites agree on anything, but it's kind of nice to see so many extending professional courtesy on this... even if the reason half are is probably because they don't know lawyers.

Yay for Primus indeed. That dude is awesome, bar none. It doesn't matter one bit who had the scoop and who didn't.

Look, I think we can all agree that the people on both sides of this issue are wrong.

The person who leaked it was wrong because he/she/they knew it wasn't to be leaked, nor to be seen even by close personal friends. (I.E. What happens at Hasbro/Takara, STAYS at Hasbro/Takara)

They leaked it anyway. Stupid. They knew it could fall into the wrong hands and probably would. Hell, how do we know they're not the person behind ALL of it? Maybe they orchestrated this whole mess. (Not likely, but possible.)

------------------------------------------------

The people who give the public access to these photos aren't doing anything better. 1.) They know it's not to be leaked (hell, there's an auction on eBay that just ended. It's blatantly out there.)

2.) They do whatever they want and fear no repercussions about it.

3.) Regardless of the fool who leaked, the sites, boards, etc should not condone and continue the course of action. (I must be fair though, had it never been leaked originally...they'd have not gotten their hands on it.)

------------------------------------------

Bottom line, both are guilty, both did a very stupid thing, and someone will be punished for it. Simple as that.

Get over it, get on with your life, and shut up about it. Nothing can be done now, fighting over it is ridiculous.

And if you really want to see it, with the searches, and so on...it's next to impossible NOT to find it.

Geez, such drama over such a simple thing as one employee's blatant stupidity.

in the name of primus.. ok i'll think i'll stop with the primus stuff lol. that thing will pwn unicron! it looks easy to transform.. can't wait for this

Maybe they orchestrated this whole mess. (Not likely, but possible.)

i have a crazy thery that hasbro and/or takara let some things slip out to get the fans all fired up about a new line. Face it now we know its going to be primus thier going to release and not wave 2 of cybertron or anything else quite so lame were all up in fits about the news and we all want to buy one and thats what hasbro and/or takara want us to do with our money BUY TRANSFORMERS.

IMO if the guy leaked the pic knowing its a no no then its up to the big guys at the top to  deal with him. if it was a m8 who leaked it after he was trusted with the news well hes just a bad m8.

Not altogether crazy. What happens in some larger companies is departments are at odds with one another... marketing being the most likely to play the lowest common denominator of "if it gets attention, we'll do it."

I believe that theory to be correct to an extent. All the protos that have been leaked on eBay, and only a handful stopped...makes no sense. Now of course, I realize it takes a person to actually steal the item from the factory and then get it on eBay, but you'd think someone would step in and say "Oh no, shut it down."

I think it's a way to test the market. Although I think it's not the method they're going with now, I think they tried it, saw how it worked, liked it and said "Alright no more" and too little too late. It's become a "thing" now.

I dunno, I think it's ridiculous to get all hissyfitted over this. It's a picture of a toy. If someone gets fired, it's their fault because they leaked it. Simple as that.
