Just go get a disposable camera and if you don`t have a scanner take the film to walmart and ask them for a CD with your pics on it. We need to see what you`ve already done for your attempts so we can give you tips. The other kitbashers here are correct you never know what you can do until you give it a try and if it doesn`t work out right the first time take pics and ask for tips and trust me none of us will give you bogus tips all of our tips are for one reason and one reason only to help the newest of our fellow kitbashers. We kitbashers are a small and tallented group however there`s always room for new members in the group. Actually it is a very wide spread and quikly growing group. I just started kitbashing about a year ago and I`ve only finished a few such as my Alt Bumblebee, my repainted Alt Prowl from Smokes, and my repainted Alt Warpath from GD KO over sized Megs, and of course my two current work in progress kitbashes BT Rodimus Prime as a Dodge Ram SRT10, and Arcee as a retooled and repainted Alt. Ravage. Not trying to steal his saying but as Wraith Verge`s signature states there is no shame in failure. The true disgrace is in the cowardice of not having tryed. The long and short of it is that kitbashing isn`t easy but if you keep at it and read the Idiot`s Guide to Kitbashing up at the top of the kitbash forum here then you can improve you technique.

I tried but it didn't come out right

Spiker,

If you need help or advice with your kitbashes, try posting your questions over at The Idiot's Guide To Kitbashing.

You see, we all started out where you are, and from there we advanced our skills slowly but steadily. No one starts off as an excellent Kitbasher: it's a discipline that takes a lot of time and effort, but the results are WELL worth it. However, you have the advantage that we didn't: a database of info to work from as well as advanced individuals in the art that can help you as well.

It sounds to me that you might be a little self-conscious of your work. Don't worry, no one at the IGTKB will insult you or put you down because of your skill level. We're all on the same team, and our goal is to help everyone become the best at the art of kitbashing.

Also, as Macross Fa-19 mentioned, Transtopia.com is also an excellent resource as well. I often visit it when I have questions about kitbashes, as well as to check out other transfans' work. :thumb. they're an awesome group over at that site, well worth the visit.

Remember: this isn't a race against every one else. The only person you have to become better than is the one you look at in the mirror each morning. :)

do you have any pics of the 'Victim-TFs' ?

since you said that I've been picturing a giant pile about 3 foot tall of ripped up alt grimmy's :tfevil .

Yes you should give it a few more tries.  Don't give up because the first few you didn't like.  Kitbashing isn't an easy art to come by, unless you are Viagra Prime or TFmaster.  If you need more help visit us over at transtopia we have a "help section", "ask our opinion section", and you won't get chewed up like some people do to noobs'.  There is also a huge gallery of customs to look at and get some references.

It doesn't come that easy man.... :redface  :roll

It does take alot of practice and trial and error to lear the skills nessasary to do customs.I personally go through at least 2 of each Alt TF just to learn to do it right on the last attempt. And yes you can go through alot of money in this hobby just to learn.

If you don't have the patience yourslef to learn then what I suggest is offering to the commissioner the two molds so they don't have to pay for them themselves and the amount you are looking to spend on your commission.

If people had a better idea of what you're willing to pay, depending on the amount, I hate to say, but in hounesty helps with the quality.

Give a price quote of what you're looking to spend, Hopefully with that bait you'll catch a fish.

But I don't think I'll be able to do it. I can cost a bit of dough thus why I make what I want, sell it on ebay and if someone is willing to pay the price for how much i'm looking to get, it gets sold. Some people can be either over picky with how much they spend and some not picky enouph. Try to find a middle ground to get at least a pretty decent customizer to do it.

If I personally was to do it they would cost at the very least $250.00 to make them both and that would be with you supplying the bots to do it with.

Look around and state in your topics your looking to commission someone for work.

You'll get better offers that way.

I don't have money for 2 Grimlocks or paint.

Hold on, while I can fully understand if someone doesn't want to spend the time or work to do a full repaint (I myself considered comissioning one or two even though I'm capable of doing them on my own), because it is a lot of work, takes a lot of skill, and can get expensive to learn, so people shouldn't be telling someone to learn repainting if you just want two figures...

If you're saying you don't even have money to buy paint, let alone the two Mustangs themselves, what did you have in mind to pay for painting and modifying them? I mean it's not exactly a free service even provided the figures.

That wasn't my point. I was only trying to give him some advice on it. Whether or not he chooses to undertake it or outsource the job is up to him, without any coercement or stigma against him.

I know, I could tell it wasn't your point.  It started by others near the beginning and slowly piled up.

But my main point wasn't that people kept suggesting he make his own, but rather that if he can't make them himself due to skill and money nor have the money to pay someone to do them, what exactly did he have in mind?  I've seen full repaints go for $100 or more, and I doubt many charge less than $20 commission just for painting.

True. Wasn't trying to be a prick. Sorry.

I know that it can be costly. A lot of my projects can be very cash-intensive.

My suggestion is that he ask one of the KBers in IGTKB. A lot of the crew there like doing kitbashes for the experience. If I had my shop set up (currently between apartments now), I would do it for 20 bucks, just for the experience.
