Just got my Galaxy Force cd today!  How's that for coincidence?  Guess I can say I'm satisfied with CdJapan.  Fast shipping, and it was packed VERY safely.  Order DVD with confidence!  ...Well?  Why are you still reading this page?

meh, Takara has no say in what hasbro repaints or even first paints it's toys as... equal partners and all ;)  But niether would hasbro skip a money maker just because takara had it's britches in a wad.  And i emailed hasbro, not that i expect a real response but it's worth a try

Seeing as Hasbro licences the designs from Takara (for most things and GF is one of them) and builds them under licence I suspect that should Takara desire they could all sorts of funny restrictions upon them ;).  Hasbro have never done their version of a Takara limited edition before have they?

because there is no market for it here in the US.. but They always do a Hot Rod redeco....  RID had one, Armada had one, and Energon had Rodimus

Yes, but Hotrod, the point that Jag and I are trying to make is...why would Takara allow a Licensee to knock off a "limited edition" item.  It de-values that item in the marketplace and also makes potential buyers of future "limited edition" items less likely to pay the higher price.  Your point of them doing a redeco of Hotrod in those three lines does not take into consideration that Takara never had a "limited edition" piece out with the same colors on the same bot as the redeco.

I don't think either Jag or I are saying it is set in stone that they won't do it, just that it is much more likely that they won't.  That is all.

Yeah,...too bad the repainted Exillion with the DVD isn't set to release until 6-22.  Oyi the wait.

Yeah, I had hoped for earlier so I coulda convinced someone to get it as a Bday gift (June 13th).  Oh well, bought it meself.  By the by, the soundtrack's bonus forcechip works well with balancing out Guardshell since he has a slot in each back wheel but only comes with one chip.

Hasbro have never done their version of a Takara limited edition before have they?

I don't know why, there was so much demand for a myriad of different repaints of the Starsaber and other assorted Minicons.  ;)  :roll

I doubt that Takara really cares how limited these exclusives are, if Hasbro is willing to pay to have 100,000 of them made, Takara will happily oblige.  Plus, this particular limited edition DVD isn't that much more expenisve than the regular boxed release - it only adds 3000 yen to the price of the set (Excillion's original price was 2000 yen), not exactly a financial windfall for Takara.  Besides, I was under the impression that the "limited edition" is just going to be a straight red repaint, Hasbro will undoubtedly add the flames, which will still preserve the exclusitivity.

Depends on how Takara and Hasbro contracted the License.  If Takara makes green on every bot made or whether there is a flat fee for the use of the intellectual property.  I tend to believe the latter because if it were the former, I think it would be cheaper to import bots rather than wait for the Hasbro line.

Nor do the Lucky draw figures create any significant revenue for Takara, yet you haven't seen Hasbro do a like redeco to match any of them.

As to this last part, even though I've purchased the Takara exclusive, I'm just as hopeful that Hasbro comes out with a version of its own as I'd be the first in line to pick it up.  I am just a bit more realistic about the chances.  They are slim.  Slim enough that I'd put money on it not happening.

And the japanese are big on exclusivity, hence the limited editions, it would soil the relationship for some other company to deminish that.

The only thing that I want to say is What about Sixbuilder Devestator, it was a limited Takara release, and the items were chase items, now (though not widely available) Hasbro has the Sixbuilder set only in devestator green.

So how are chase items any different then Lucky draw other then a smaller release.

I just threw down on it and the DVD for 95 bucks.  I won't get it till July though. :redface

man i soooo wish hasbro would mass produce this guy even if it has nothing to do with the story
