Anybody Ever Been Dumped b.c of Transformers?

Recommended Posts

TBH, I have never had anyone laugh or make fun of my collection since sophmore year of high school.  Some of my friends thought it was silly then, but saw how cool tfs are, or how much I don't act childish, or whatever.  Now everyone I know likes to go to my room to play.

I was an alcoholic, womanising thug when I met my missus (part of the attraction I think!) and since then, I've changed totally for the better.I've "matured" alot in the past 4 years and, after seeing Alt Smoky in an Argos catalogue whilst sitting on the bog, I decided to get a hobby.I no longer feel the need to drink 2 bottles of vodka, put a glass in someone's face & hang out the back of some fat hairy trout!

My missus does get p!ssy with the lack of shelf space, and keeps threatening to get some of them big plastic containers (TF coffins - as I call them) til we get another room. But, at least I don't like football.

I think EVERYONE should have a hobby of some desciption. The world would be a  far better place. Soz to hear about the split dude, but life goes on. Things like this are just sent to test us. Be true to yourself and everything will fall into place...

...eventually.  :thumb

After much deliberation on the subject of gf or tfs I have concluded that:

Transformers never complain about you watching sports on tv all the time, you dont have to feed 'em, they dont spend all your money on shoes, they never cheat on you while your out of town(or in town for that matter![twice!!!]), arrive at your house claiming to be pregnant and that you "did it".

Y'know, transformers rule!!!

On that golddigging notion, have you ever tried to have a serious relationship with a woman who is into horses? If they even begin to give you a hard time, all you need to do is look at where 98% of their money goes, adn you'd drop dead.

I guess this is becoming a little bit of a rant, so step off if you'd like.

With some women, they feel that if your interests do not coincide directly with their hobbies, you are a waste of space adn time. Sadly, I've known and dated too many of these girls to count. However, I was always impressed by the sheer obsession with picking up a TF to transform it. It's invariable!

I'm proud to say that I now have Predaking sitting on my shelf due, in part to the convincing of my current GF.  It was either the King or Gen 1 Hound. I bought Hound and she told me to go ahead and get 'King. I treated her VERY well the rest of the weekend for that. :D

hehe, nice

Yup, dumped over toys. There are other reasons we broke up, but she kept going back to "spending ALL my money on 'toys' when I have bills to pay" (not true! NEVER been late on a bill!!) ...she called me immature, a child, blah blah blah...

Truth of the matter: my collecting severely subsided after she expressed her distaste...

Has anybody else experienced rockiness in a relationship over these COLLECTORS' ITEMS? Were ya'll able to sway them into realizing they're not just toys? How?

Just be glad that she made her feelings known before your relationship went any farther.

Part of a relationship is accepting each other's hobbies and interests.

Happy hunting ( Not only for Transformers, but also an open minded Girlfriend)

I guess I should add this - my wife loves animals.  One time (not even a year ago, COUGH COUGH), we had a dog, three cats, and two rats.  So that is my ammo right there.  100 transformers for every animal that she brings in.  Now, the two rats have since died, and one cat ran away (only to be replaced by a kitten), but I don't think I'll ever see myself with 500 transformers.  It's the price she has to pay because I don't like animal hair all over my clothes (but its something I put up with).

Here's a post I made on another forum a few years ago about TFs ruining a good thing:

Memories of Mandera...

Excerpt:

You make Batman complicated...

too bad I'm not animated.

I don't care for your Transformers...

I'm just a lonely performer...

This is a verse from a song written about me by someone I hurt who meant worlds to me. :tfsad

an interesting thing happened earlyer to me at school, in english language we were looking at culture and we had to do talks on decades, i jumped for tf territory and got the 1980's the teacher who lived in the 80s was impressed with the detail of the report (it was on all aspects on the decade) and i brought up the point about many toons from the 80s being made into films

he said "hmm transformers, i was a bit old for them"

someone's reply

"you are never to old for transformers"

this was a revelation to me cos i was not the one who said it and i'm the only man in the class. at least i know that my hobby is considered cool by some lasses at school.

on the subject of displaying, the only one's that are on display are my alts and possibly the repaint of bw/armada predacon into grimlock. i figure this is about the right amount to show to people as they look cool and are not as overwhelming as my whole collection
