ok ive been tinkin about dis.......

 

1st as per G1 marvel comics history, both unicron and primus were gods of chaos and order and locked in mortal combat

that to save the universe primus took their battle to the astal plane then relizing that he would never be able to defeat unicron traveled back to the physical universe and traped their essences in stone/metal......

 

at some eons later both unicron and primus became aware of thier new bodies and began to shape/sculpt the stone/metal prisons into likness of thier original forms. thus the incarnations we kno today, Unicron the transforming planet/eater and Primus, Cybetron - home world of the autobots and decepticons.

 

Ever wonder how the Quintessons worked into all of this....?

They were never mentioned in the marvel comics, wit the exception of the comic version of the movie, but that was never part of mainstream marvel g1 continuity, just the cartoon series.

 

here's wot we kno........

in the cartoon series the Quintessons were described as to have built the transformers orig as goods/weapons of war and peace.

How they get the idea....

 

here's my theory......

when primus(and unicron)became aware and transformed the *asteroids* their essences were imprissoned in.....there was some sort of organic life developing......kinda like a reptillian micro organsim.

 

since primus kept the bulk of his conciousness dormant, he needed help in executing his plan to defend/attack unicron. He reformated the micro organisms into what we kno as quintessons to help with the production of offensive and defensive devices...ie the g1 transformers...or at least the ones from Alpha Trion's generation...ie The Fallen, Liege Maximo and the Last Autobot to name a few....the quints would be the care takers of the planet and help design future TF's as needed.

 

the qunitessons were given 5 faces to represent the 5 faces of virtue(primus was the god of order)....honor, integrity, truth, justice and peace.....however some where along the lines these valuse got corrupt as the Quints gained more and more sentent and control of cybertron(primus was in full hybernation mode)

 

Unicron...having shared a mental link w/primus would have done the same, but this is not seen until Energon when Unicron is now in full hybernation mode.......ie Alpha-Q's pressence......

 

after the rebellion, when A3 drove the Quints from cybertron........most of the early history/schematics were lost or taken by the Quints......

A3 being the only one able to communicate w/primus...via vector sigma was now incharge of creating new TF personalities in preparation of the comming of chaos.

 

time passed and civil war broke out and fact turned into myth and became history......

 

If u look closely.......the core of unicron is a mirror image to that of primus....ie vector sigma.....and the matrix is but a part of this, hence why it is so valuable......it is not only the key to vector sigma but a door to the essence of primus......and even unicron.....

Excelent and well thought out NPX. I see your points, but I am at the point where I like Primus as a Quint and not a God as in the MUSH 2005 history. I tend to like rationality as opposed to spirituality. Though your theory is a good one. I just don't want to believe that robots beleive in a god. Which is a hypocritical position since I believe in God. Oh well, anyway good thoughts.

actually, the Quintesson were in the Marvel UK G1 comic. They were the same as they were in the cartoon, with the exception of being the creators of the TFs. It's all in the Space Pirate tpb by Titan Books. I wonder what role they'll serve in DW's continuity.

I think it's kind of assumed that the Quintessons built the Sharkticons after they got booted off Cybertron. Alpha-Q's only shown three faces so far (unless I missed something), but he's got more, which I won't talk about because people'll whine about spoilers.

 

By the way, the Quintessons got a Marvel Transformers Universe entry, too. You can check it here. They were basically set up as Unicron's clean up crew, which isn't very interesting. I believe it actually comes from notes in the TFTM script, by the way.

yeah, tfarchive says pretty much the same thing. Dw hasn't said anything about them being connected to Unicron or the TFs just yet in their continuity. But they are aware of the current status of both Unicron and the TFs. After G1 #0, it became clear that the Quintessons sent some Sharkticons to Cybertron during the Great Shutdown. They just haven't shown why yet.
