The excitement for a new line begins

Recommended Posts

Wave 1 is plenty big enough for me. If they were all basic/deluxe sized I'd have no problem with having more released. With leaders rumoured to be in the $65/$70 range and Ultras in the $40 range budgeting is going to be difficult as is without having more on top of that. :eek Energon waves hit so fast in the beginning of there run that by third wave I was still struggling to finish the first wave. I hope it's easier to keep up this time around now that a Walmart has been localized. Before it was an hour and a half drive to find anything TF related. :tdown

Well that's my rant, happy hunting everyone :thumb

I believe that Jetfire and Scourge haven't been spotted in the US or Canada yet.

You're right. As far as I can tell, they're only out in Hong Kong so far.

in the good old days and i mean early g1 years, you never saw a 40 or 60 dollar toy until x-mass came around. before then it was always just the deluxe and basic sixed toys that were out with a few mega sized ones [the seekers] and later down the line a few ultras [megs and prime].

now when i see a large unicron or omega surprime before x-mass, i feel that the ine is burned out.

the idea was you had to wait till x-mass for the REAL BIG TOYS.

i really wish that hasbro would go back to that practice. it made alot of since and i think it was better overall for production costs.

nobody is going to lay down 40-60 dollars on a toy for their kid in the summer time; x-mass yeah, summer no.

summer is the best time for the more affordable toys like deluxes and basics.

but i am pretty biased as i have yet to get any other figure larger than a deluxe except for my razorclaw.

i like the smaller toys.......hell i wish all the toys were deluxe sized only.

Sez you.  I have the scratch, so I can score larger toys.  It's all good.

well this isn't about scratch....i have plenty

from what i've seen in the past when takara makes a real nice small transformer in such a small size .......to me it is a work of art and grand engineering.

but when comes to a larger sized transformer [i've messed with plenty] i find that the toy would have worked out so much better as a deluxe. two good examples coming to cybertron are the green trike [muddflap or dirtboss i forget] and starscream. these 2 in a deluxe size would have been great and the level of detail and complexity would have matched. but as a larger size these toys just got too much bulk and plastic for what they do and how they transform. i would expect that from geting a larger robot you get more features cos these features wouldn't have worked on a smaller toy.

good examples of an ultra done right are landmine and bulkhead. but these toys had an unfair advatage for they were just deluxe sized toys with big accessorie droids.

my razorclaw/tigerhawk is another good example of a well done ultra. you couldn't make that toy in a deluxe size......it would be impossible.

now going back to the deluxes; it seems time and time again the engineers who design these toys just seem to really enjoy their work.........they put so much work into these things and it amazes me how much transformability and features i get in a deluxe toy over a bigger one. even a few basics have blown my mind....the complexity of energon arcee is outstanding for such a tiny toy.

for the new cybertron stuff there are a few amazing designs. the top one for me it nitro convoy. this trigger based transformer has 4 things being formed at the same time at the touch of a botton. arms, head, back, chest all get moved around separatly  to form the top half of the robot. and it is a small pocket sized deluxe that has this feature.....wow. I would have expected this in a larger toy and would have passed on it cos it was too easy to design, but in a small package like that....that takes skill for a designer to make work.

So when will the Legends of Cybertron figures be released?  Will that come with one of the first waves, or will it come WAY later?

The first wave of LoC is already officially out in Hong Kong, so I doubt they're gonna sit around in warehouses for months.

I dipped into GF at Transformerscon, but later realized I wanted a couple more, so I'm happy for Cybertron.

I Checked my local walmart and TRU cuz I haven't for a while, and found out the current state of TFs in the Ottawa region (central and east end):

1: TRU actually has Cybertron right now! (yay, save 20-25 bucks on Vector Prime by buying Cypertron version)

2: TRU has the full last wave of Energon (cuz I saw Alpha Q. six shot, missing merger limbs, ee ss, roadblock) and walmart has the last merger limbs and ee ss, roadblock (but not the bigger ones like alpha q)

3: Neither TRU or walmart have Alts in stock. Not even the shelf warmers! (we had Siseswipes and Silverstreaks up the arse here) :eek

I got to see that mega sized Cybertron Starscream. Words cannot describe my dissapointment, so..............:puke

I don't really want a GF or cybertrom master megs, but I really like some of the pics for the galvatron repaint. (I usually like g1 homages). And again, i'll pronly be able to save some moola by getting a cybertron version. As long as it's less than 80$ I'll be saving money (Canadian).

We haven't seen the Basics and Ultras over here in the Philippines. Since the stocks originate from HK, they probably haven't released them in mass numbers.

Oh, Skullfire the Energon Ultras are as big as the Energon Megas. You probably don't know that since you don't collect bigger than Deluxes like you said. :P
