Did you guys catch the subtle transformers reference last night, when Peter said something like, "Hey, I know who to go see..."

Then the screen shifted to an approaching Peter's head, then it flipped and Quagmire's head went away - all with the theme music from the G1 faction symbol flip (screen break) from the original show.

Is Seth McFarlane a fan or something? I know he has had a couple of TF references in his show.

I thought it was pretty funny...  :thumb

That was funny but the whole damn episode was funny!! The PopEye references the Peter Copter, everything!!

he has said that "transformers was the greatest piece of crap ever created" or something like that so he must be a fan to have used references twice

Transformers is in cartoons all the time. Optimus Prime was in the last new episode of The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. Well...

It wasn't really Optimus Prime but it was a red semi with a white symbol on the side (looked like a take on the Autobot symbol). So...

It's just all in fun I guess...

That was good.  I also liked the Rocky III/IV reference at the end.

i really can't wait for the dvd,  it's unlikely they'l show the tv series over here

Wasn't there a reference where Optimus Prime was Jewish as well?

I can't remember if this was Family Guy or the Simpsons...

But yeah - last night's episode was freakin' funny!

I laughed so hard when I saw that, but the episode itself was hilarious, the best episode of this season so far.

It was the Fox-banned only aired on Cartoon network When you Whish upon a Weinstein episode.

Jewish acquaintance takes them to Temple to releive Peter of some stereotypes. Peter is surprised at how many people he sees there and then hears a motor and yells 'Holy Crap! Optimus Prime?'

A lot of guys writing and drawing for cartoons these days are normally '80s kids so there's quite a lot of geek references in every 'toon that is meant to appeal to a broad audience.

Most Cartoon Network shows, mature 'toons like Simpsons and Family Guy, as well as certain Nickolodeon shows like Fairly Oddparents and Spongebob has a lot of geek fanboy references that will only be known by older audiences.

In Family Guy, if I'm not mistaken, the company Peter works with is a parody of Hasbro.
