Welker and Kaye are both fine. Leonard Nimoy only if they make it sound like Galvatron's voice in TFTM and doesn't involve any singing.

I like Kaye's Megs voice but I think it's to dramatic and kinda makes me think of all those feminine Disney villians(Jafar, Scar to name a couple). Welker is good as long as he's not screaming. I can imagine his voice coming from a live action Megs. England might as well be Welker so what would be the use?

hello the whople deep and sinister sound effect voice here. englund could definately add a whole new layer to megatrons character when it comes to portraying him as being the truly unholy overly ambitiouse omnipotent type of ultra villian he should be. a con so hard to kill the guy can literally defeat death in the end because hes the ultimate decepticon when it comes to survival each time you kill the guy he just comes back better and stronger and harder to kill.

So, who do you think should deliver the voice for Megatron in the upcoming TF-movie?

Personally, I would go for Kaye. He has voiced Megatron for almost 10 years now, and I know no-one who can implement the true evil edge that Megatron needs in his voice. His Megatron is not a raging maniac, but a convincing, powerful, intelligent leader.

Second to vote.  :clap

David Kaye hands down.  :thumb

Personally from what I've seen of him in Beastwars/Beast Machines he desn't strike me as that scary or menacing.  He's more comedic than anything IMO with his constant talking to himself, and every other word being Yessssssss. I Armad/Energon he was an absolute badass and really the only character I appreciated seeing in the entire series. I would love to see that persna translate into the live action movie alongside Gary Calks Primal.

BTW David Kaye as a back talking caddy in Hotshots Golf Fore is really beginning to piss me off some. :stone  :lol

g1 all the way

if they want a celeb get them to do bumble bee, thunder cracker or some other 2nd tear charater

here's my 2 cents on this one... I would love to see either of the reg. actors doing it (Welker or Kaye), but I, again, think they'll go with a mainstream actor for the public.. not saying I like it, but I won't boycott it if they do..

now that the painting a target on my forehead is done :-)

whoever does Megs needs to have the "villain's edge"  .. the kind of presence communicated through the voice that makes you think... "oh s---, may God have mercy on us!"

Nothing coming to mind right now... but I think that Megs with a Long island or Brit's accent would be a bad thing ;-)

again... CHRIS ROCK for STARSCREAM! :-P

I think Christopher Walken has that sinistr edge needed to display Megatron's evil.

"Decepticons... this plan needs more cowbell!"

How about "no"...  :tflaugh

For the record, I don't like Kaye's Megatron either.  Reminds me of a bit more sinister version of G1 Tracks, and that's just wrong, IMO.  Welker has a wide range of talent, and can definitely add a bit more seriousness and depth to his original Megatron, I'm sure... Either way, the voice should resonate with the overall style of the original G1 Megs, regardless of who plays him.  I agree with the post comparing Kaye's megatron to Disney villains like Jafar... he just seems a bit too stereotypical "bad-guy" to pull off Megatron, to me.  And as for Starscream, that's another voice that needs to retain it's original feel, regardless of the final choice for VA.  Think like (as an example, not a suggestion for Starscream obviously) the guy that played Shaggy in the Scooby Doo movies.  He didn't quite mimic Casey Kasem's voice to a tee, but after the first two or three minutes, he was Shaggy.  He nailed the charachter, which is more important than  nailing the original voice actor's version of the charachter.  That's what all the voice talent on the new movie needs to do.  At least they will only have to sound like the charachter though... poor Shaggy had to not only sound like Shaggy, he had to look like him, too.  (Which he also pulled off very well, I might add.  Wonder if Cliffjumper will be in the movie... :schin )

Though it depends on what style of Megatron we're going to get. If he's a brutal killing machine, then Welker, as his Megs is a little less "intelligent" and more of a warrior. If we're getting a scheming evil bastard that can, when need be, kick your arse then I go for Kaye as his Megs was much more of a thinking Megatron.

:pfx

Let the Megatron determine the VA, I say.

Odds are, I think, we'll get a more calculating, Kaye-style Megatron in this movie.  The G1 Megatron crazy bully type isn't going to give the menacing vibe that I think this movie would go for.  They're not going to want a screaming maniac tank, they're going to want a character to stick in your mind as a capable villain who was only thwarted at the last second by the good guys.  G1 Megs was a little too incompetent to fill those shoes.

Welker was the best option for G1.  Kaye was the best option for BW.  I don't think either would work well in the other's place though, so let's hope the movie creators are aware of this and make the best call for whatever Megatron they give us.
