Perhaps because Ironhide was a Van in the first place?

I do remember Toyota using the MPV designation before, but it was only used to classify a series of vehicles (SUVs and Vans, mostly).  AFAIK, the MPV designation is no longer used.

 

Even though the next car MAY be a Toyota, we don't even exactly know which one.

 

EDIT:  There is a Mazda MPV, a van.  My last sentence before the edit may be inaccurate.

hummmm im a little skeptical of this we did get the toyota RAV4 KO some time back so it might be that cropping up again.

a rav4 would make a cool ironhide IMO but a MPV would be a little sucky

cool, iron hide has always been at the top of my alt want list

Don't hold your breathe but maybe. It may end up as Rodimus Prime with the way the BT story is going. The Autobots face Unicron alone and HotRod gets the Matrix blah, blah...

Ironhide would be cooler as a truck.

MPV's sell well becasue they're practical.  There is NOTHING cool about an MPV.

 

I  predict this will be next Alternator to actually have proper distribution.  In fact they will OVER ship it, it will clog the shelves and kill the line DEAD.  :tflaugh

 

Actually maybe Takara WANT to kill it off.

if they are making rodimus prime i want them to make a proper masterpiece and release it in the uk :grr

 

it has to be ironhide. besides the characters pre-movie will have survived, including optimus, it's a whole different can of beans now that megatron is not around and shockwave is in charge, my guess is that the decepticons ravage made disappear will soon make their appearence again with the passing of unicron
