E-Prime and the Faceplate

Recommended Posts

Well so far no luck in finding the embossed code, so I haven't gotten E-Prime yet. However, the code was around in December, and it's now March, and I've heard that faceplate Prime is now common in stores. Is this true? Say I go to a Wal-Mart and find Prime alongside or behind some E-Megatrons (real-life scenario, the day I got E-Megatron there were 2 E-Primes behind the large quantity of E-Megatrons), would that Prime be the faceplate version? Is the mouth error version even out anymore?

If I go out this weekend and pick him up, will he be the faceplate Prime? Is there a way to find out in the store?

I was thinking of cutting the tape on the box and lifting Prime up to take a peak at his head. Is there even a possible way to do this?

So many questions...o.o

No idea. The mouth is not an "error" just a discontinued thing, because HASBRO DOES LISTEN. *ahem* :P

Anyways.. I know it took me awhile to get Prime out of his box when I was in the car, trying to get a look at his face (mine turned out to be a mouth, no big deal). I wouldn't try opening him in the store.. Lots of twisties.

Good luck though.

I've had the same issue. I've been checking every toy store I can, and I can't find any with the embossed code. I'll just keep patiently searching until I find it. **sigh**

But I wouldn't dare open the box up in the store.. that's not cool.

Yes but the problem is that I've heard no more boxes with the code will be produced! This poses a problem...

So if I go to Wal-Mart or wherever and find E-Prime next to or behind E-Megatron, is it a given that it's the corrected version?

My guess is that most of the Walmarts now have the correct version, as they turn over enough stock. A store that deals with smaller volumes/turnover could very will still have the mouth version.

It is possible to check his face without removing any twist ties. Open the box, slide it out and pop his head up. I actually did this after buying mine when I was in the parking lot (I got him at lunch and didn't want to worry about the mouth the rest of the day - lame, I know :D ).

So which one was it inside the box? I assume it didn't have the stamp on it.

I was having the same problem. I am just gonna bite the bullet this weekend.

I haven't found the code yet, prolly never will. I'm gonna wait a while til I buy Energon Prime, just to be sure. I'm sure there are ones left with the face.

After checking every friggin' box at every TRU, Walmart and Target within about 20 miles, I had never seen any boxes with this "mythical" stamp. So I eventually bit the bullet like Admiral Tailz and about a month ago picked him up at Walmart (fortunately, he had no mouth). Considering OP is cheapest at Walmart, I came to the conclusion that they were probably selling enough to have received fresher cases.

The funny thing about all of this is in about five years, the mouthed verison will be the one worth a fortune on eBay.
