Are "repaints" a given...

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering: I've heard more than a few people talk about "waiting for the repaint" for certain Energon line toys.

Now, is this a sure thing? Has it been said that each one of the current toys, or best selling toys, will be released again with a new paint job?

Or is it an assumption, since they did it for Armada especially, the Universe line is repaints, and Hasbro's done it a number of times before?

I only ask because the certainty of the tone people say it with makes me wonder.

Frankly, I would love to get an Energon Hot Shot in "Hot Rod" colors, but can I be sure that this will happen? Or a Divebomb in Laserbeak colors. That sort of thing. Are we positive they will be repainted, or just hopeful?

Usually most pieces from a line will be repainted. The colors?? No one really knows.

though it would be ironic that the one series we would like some repaints that they actually don't give us any lol

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere they said they planned on using almost every mold twice (at least). But yeah, it's almost a given. A repaint is essentially 100% profit, as the mold's already been created. And they sell... so it makes logical sense to milk them as they can.

It's pretty much inevitable until Hasbro sayeth otherwise.

That's for Alternators :tfgrin

Repaints when done right can be a real treat..when done wrong they just take up shelf space (looking at you Treadbolt)

I'm fed up with ugly repaints.

Case in point:

Universe Ramjet

Energon Hotshot

Energon Offshoot

Desert Type Command Jaguar

Energon Tidalwave

Energon Unicron

Energon Treadbolt

Energon Rapid Run

PUT DOWN THE FRIGGIN PAINT BRUSH AND LEAVE THEM AS IS UNLESS YOU CAN DO IT RIGHT

Case in point:

Armada Skywarp

Universe Skywarp

Universe Ratchet

Universe Razorclaw

I want repaints. Looks at his Armada Thundercracker, Galvatron, Predacon, and Skywarp with awe.
