Hope for the Cybertron TV Show?

Recommended Posts

However, the more people avoid watching it, the lower the ratings will be, and the higher the likelyhood that a different style would be used for the next series.

You obviously have no idea how TV ratings are calculated do you?

:wtf

What is this? Gang up on Wildling week?  Now I get to explain myself to you too?

You know what?  I'm not going to answer your question until you can phrase it less insultingly than that.  If you have further problems with what I have said, feel free to PM me.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be insulting, so I'll rephrase the question.

Do you know how the TV Ratings are calculated?

Thank you.

As a matter of fact, I do know how they are calculated.

Doesn't really change the statement though.  The less people watch it, the more likelyhood that the ratings are going to be low.  There's enough of a cross-section of people involved in the ratings tabulation process to ensure that.  If the ratings system didn't reflect the viewing habits of the population there wouldn't be much point to it.

You have a point, but look at this:

Only 5,000 homes in the US have a 'People Meter', which monitors what they watch.

Only 1 million people are contacted throughout the year to keep track of viewing habits for 1 week via a diary.

I for one, think they need to overhaul their system and include many more people than they currently do.

They do.  Badly.

It might help to get some of the more ridiculously bad sitcoms off the air too.

Or some of that BS "reality TV" crap. I can't stand it. I grew up when families would sit down on weeknights and watch actual good TV. This crap they show now is pointless. Why do I care who gets voted off the island?

I might watch it...but Manhammer's posted comic makes a good point. Fox and CN love to butcher anime beyond belief. Bad dubbing, a script that couldn't be further from the original, and cutting anything remotely violent 'cause it might be bad for itty bitty kiddies. I can still go back and watch G1 and enjoy it, even though it was a half-hour commercial. At least it had good characters. The most recent shows...do not.

BTW, Wildling's right about it being possible to make a TF show that can appeal to both types of audiences.

Example: Beast Wars.

Beast Wars got everyone's hope up that more shows catering to both audiences would be made.

Ill watch Cybertron because its a TF show...........

....but I dont have to like it.

Dont get me wrong I wont hate the show, but Beast Wars spoiled us older types.  Ever since Hasbro said F#$% the fans with Beast Machines recognition for older fans has gone downhill.

I think it was a reversal personally.. I think BM was directed at us primarily being we went so ga ga with Beast Wars and all of it's geewun references, they thought if they pushed it more they we'd eat it up. In the end, we get this oppressive, dark, depressing, religious dribble.. and watching all the characters we grew to love either suddenly get nuetered, changed totally, or killed. The only guy who seemed to remain the same was Thrust/Waspinator.. if you want to count how the hell he flew himself to cybertron.

I'm glad some of the characters changed.. but that only counts Cheetor and Silverbolt.

Like post movie transformers all over again.

With BM they (Hasbro) specifically told the writers to ignore what came before and to make it more spiritual.  ooops not so good.

Beast Machines to me, would've been a great show if it had absolutely nothing to do with TFs.

Instead they scared off kids with the darker imagery and scared off fans with their sacriligeous TFery!?!

When they got to Cybertron they had to learn to Transform?????

There were some cool G1 references thrown in, but that organic crap ruined it for me.  TFs are heavy metal plain and simple.

To me BM was either a bad dream Cheetor had or something a reinvigorated Unicron set up so he could finish off Primus more easily.

Unicron made the Transformers  on Cybertron weaker so he could crush them easier........... I still don't know Hasbro's reason though.

Setting all opinions of Galaxy Force aside, do you have hope for the Cybertron tv show rumored to begin at 7 p.m. on July 2nd?  Will the dubbing/writing be satisfactory?  How about voice acting?  Will YOU be tuning in?

I have hope for it, and I know I'll be watching.

I don't think I can handle sitting thru those awful racing episodes on Speedia along with Voicebox's semi-retarded production issues.

I'll stick with GF.

Bob Skir said that. That year the Hasbro reps who supposedly told Skir to ignore everything that came before were asked why they did that. It was the first they had ever heard the idea. All they wanted was a fresh approach, not blind ignorance of the series' history.

If only we could get them subbed on DVD here in the US.
