Besides the Godawful name (WHAT ARE YOU THINKING, HASBRO?), most people love to mock his deliciously horrendous paint apps. That and the fact that they tried to make him look like a race car and failed badly doesn't help. What's anyone else think of Decepticharge? Does anyone actually like this blemish upon the Alternators line? Should he REALLY have been Drag Strip? Was he named the way he was because the other Honda is named WindCHARGER?

The name is silly, with a catalog of roughly ten zillion old-ass TF names it seems like they could have picked a better one.  :roll

 

But my biggest gripe is the goofy fake racing decals, ruins the whole "real alt mode" aspect of the Alt line.  I would have been more accepting of a similar looking 'bot if the decals had depicted real companies (which seems like it wouldn't have been that hard considering all the various diecasts models that use realistic "Import Street Tuning" decals), as at least then a realistic version could exist.

 

Personally, I'm hoping that the BT version is just a plain yellow car with a black hood.

Chances are, I won't be picking him up. I forgot to mention he's getting a lame-ass "scanner" instead of a gun...which kinda kills any fun you might have putting him in action poses. Speaking of which, why did Honda wuss out for the US version? I mean, they sound as bad a Volkswagen over the whole "WE WILL NOT MAKE A NAZI WAR ROBOT TOY" thing.

He rocks, scanner be damned, mine all came with barrels ;) You soon ignor the decals/name/scanner and appreciate him for the cool toy he is but on that note they dont want to make it easy to like him do they :wtf

Honda, not Hasbro. It's not like Hasbro didn't have any better names to choose from. Too bad Honda didnt like anything that implied "illegal street racing".

Well, according to Takara, he's Wildrider.

 

Was he named the way he was because the other Honda is named WindCHARGER?

He's named that way because his head was originally supposed to be Windcharger (remember, Alternators "Windcharger" was supposed to be Overdrive, the Omnibot), and he was made a Decepticon. "Decepticharge" ("Decepticon Windcharger") was the working name (see "Blackstreaker"), Honda didn't agree upon "Drag Strip", "Wildrider", "Wildracer" etc., Hasbro reverted to "Decepticharge" as a last resort, and Honda agreed, surprisingly enough.

I hate Honda.
