I don't understand how or why the cartoon would have any effect on what people think about the toyline.  I'm not a huge fan the past several cartoon series either but I love the figures and I just can't see letting a lousy cartoon taint my opinion of them.

Energon has some of the best figures ever and I feel sorry for people who love tf's but didn't bother to get any Energon figs just because the cartoon was lousy. The way I see it, you're only cheating yourself out of some great figures!

Ok so that was a simplistic statement but didnt feel a long and invloved analysis from my point of veiw was warranted ;)

Megatron was OK but simplistic and the autobots were compromised down to the lame (IMO) powerlinking crap wich resulted in severe compromises in both singular and combined modes.  I myself am a design purist and hate compromise on anything, just my own little foible (of which I have many, this will come as a huge shock to most here who regard me as a superman ;))

The cartoon however is a powerful marketing tool and if they make a character likeable in the `toon then subconsiously your resistence to the figures break down but if they cant be bothered to animate or voice act it properly then my desire to get these figures waned.

GF/Cyberton is a world away from energon, even though they still ahve an unesssary gimmick, this doesnt lead to design compromises and we have the best line (aside from the alts) for a looong time (I said line not individuals so no flaming me about the joys of individual bots lol)

I was with you on that sentiment in the beginning, but have recently been swayed to pick up a few random Energon bots.  The powerlinking gimmick is still lame, IMO, but there are more than a few bots that are worth thier respective $6-$10.  (Still haven't let myself spend much more than that for one, except for Galvatron.  You're right on that one, too - cool, but a bit simplistic for his size.)  What surprised me most is the relative complexity of the basics I've bought so far... Arcee, Strongarm, and whatever the red & white jet guy's name is, all are surprisingly complex for thier size, and pretty decent toys.  Heck, even Battle Ravage didn't totally suck.  :thumb

DLP thinks an Alternator sucks and that his version is infinitely superior? What else is new? :roll

Have you been replaced with X-BoB?  *smack*

I think THAT Alt sucks.  And mine IS infinitely superior.  ;)

J/K.  I've seen DLP's custom Prowl, and it TOTALLY pwns the official one.

I'll still buy the official one, though.

Unless DLP will sell me his custom one for $20.  :thumb

DLP...stroking your own ego, as usual? Please stop that.

What?

$20 for the Meister (unless he wants to provide one), paint, possibly $20 for the metal-body police interceptor model (for teh v-light bar, unless I can find a cheaper alternative, or he wants the regular, straight light-bar). So, I'd actually only be charging him $10 for my labor. ;)

You're right.  I should charge $60 or $70.  :thumb

(and, considering I've seen other people offer to do customs for $150 - $200, it's a bargain. ;))
