And Onslaught, who I did with more magnesium paint than titanium paint, so that he'd match Megatron and provide a lighter counterpoint to the dark titanium limbs.

Group shot.  Try to ignore the green parts where I forgot to paint Brawl.

Bruticus Lives.  He's about as tall as Unicron, which I didn't have handy for comparison.  But notice how tiny Arcee looks in comparison.

OMG its teh shiny look

a little tip have you ever heard of dry brushing? it would make the corners look sharper. you dip your brush into a lighter shade of (in this case) silver then try to take as much of with out just using a napkin they brush on the corners. they use it on the games workshop stuff

More random shots.  I was experimenting with transformations to see how the proportions looked:

Anyway, I'm happy with the way they came out, although I won't be taking Bruticus out of combined mode much.  You can see where Onslaught's parts are coming apart, and other pieces are simply too hard to unstick without worrying about stressing or breaking the plastic.  But, it still can be done with enough care.

Relatedly, I'm looking for some kind of glue that starts as a gel but hardens into something solid.  I used to have some I used as a kid, and I was hoping to use it to reinforce some of the loose and cracked parts on Bruticus.  Any recommendations?

Someday, when there's a cosmic alignment of high disposable income, low common sense, and copious free time, I'd like to do a matching Predaking and Brave Max.  However, those are really expensive and I'm not sure they'd look as good.  Still, I'm curious to see what Predaking might look like in less vibrant colors...  In the meantime I look forward to moving soon so that I can set him up next to the other big bots for comparison.

Thanks for the positive comments so far!  I enjoyed working on it and I think it came out pretty cool.  :thumb

Gah, double post.

cool. but lets see Bruticus in action!!!!!!

I was going to take some more shots of Bruticus actually, you know, doing something, but I couldn't get the arms to stick in positions other than shown.  Madhammer was right when he said the oversized molds emphasize how bricklike the scramble city molds are, and the fragility of Onslaught's arm mechanisms didn't help much - but they're still cool.  :thumb

Huh - I hadn't heard of that but it sounds quite similar to what I ended up doing, just a lot thinner application.  I'll have the experiment with that next time, thanks!
