it sounds intresting...BUT NOT FOR A NEW TF SHOW!!!! no Autobots = VERY BAD!

like i said. i wouldn't expect it to go over big with the western audiences due to the different entertainment preferences. but the japanese can't get enough of entertainment that features teenagers as the main heros, so if takara actually went ahead and replaced the autobots with kids in mech suits, it would probably give the japanese franchise the push it needs to get out of its slump.

and on the bright side, if takara did go this route, hasbro would have to go back to hireing western animation studios to create an american made tf cartoon.

exactly.. it would make for a good cartoon... hell i'd like to see the toys produced by takara! but like u said [hornet] it might not fly well with the us audience. a transformers show without autobots battling decepticons would be weird. unless they had exo suits or somethins similar to the head masters or powermasters to make them a similar size to the decepticons...

Yes!!!  and every week the 15 year old kids could totally PWN the decepticons and throw pie at them and then they would all laugh

now you would have to make sure to add lots of hilarity and hijinx

could we make them 9 year old kids?

still you have to admit that bringing back the masterforce formula for a japanese tf series would be a lot more honest than some of the lame-ass excuses the more recent shows came up with for kids to be shacking up with the autobots. the japanese people want their giant robots to be human piloted, why deny it?

with the new movie comming up, maybe takara really will do their own seperate tf toyline for 2006. i really don't think that a tf toyline based on an american made movie would work as a mainline japanese tf series.

The Japanese Franchise seems to be doing just fine...I mean hell they have more TF lines going than we do and all seems to be selling well, so I see no need for this.

RobotMasters is obviously popular and the Re-Issue line seems to still be going on strong. Plus Galaxy Force is going on and doesn't look to be doing badly. And in GF, the human kids are there but don't have any sort of super-role or major story point, particularly in last little bit of the story currently going on.

Also No, Hasbro wouldn't HAVE to go back to a Western Animation Company at all...they don't have to be forced into any situation like that.

Now on to your idea...it's nothing more than a standard Sentai and would mean jack to most people, even in Japan...it's just another series about robots and humans...blah, they wouldn't care for it anymore than they do now (which isn't really as bad as you seem to think). UNLESS it was given a very high-end budget and had several J-Pop stars performing multiple openings and endings...then it's possible, but even then I don't see it worth the trouble or expense.
