Need help with Alt Wheeljack head color

Recommended Posts

Thank you so much Cyclonus X!! I went to Rite Aid today got the Sharpee and I am amazed by the results. It is f#cking spectacular! it's the exact same silver color as the Hasbro painted bots. I started to get used to the dull gray but forget that I'm going on a painting frenzy this weekend.

I did my Powermaster Prime's (regular bot) legs in silver sharpe :tflaugh, it's so damn hard to not do EVERYTHING with that damn marker

Would a fine tip permanent marker work for painting the eyes?  how about black sharpie for the back of the head?

I think I'm going to do the same thing to WJ's fins.

well i won't leave them that dark, makes him look evil, like he'd scare grimy off, and that just is a frightning though

I think he looks evil any way. Cut his fins off and his face almost looks more like the decepticon symbol than Soundwave.

that settles it i'm getting a smiley sticker and putting it on his head  :clap  j/k i hadn't notice the resemblence to the con fac sym til you pointed it out, his face brings new meaning to mad scientist

:eek

so i took apart his head to take a look at these blue eyes and wtf was hastak thinking.....translucent eyes, with no light to light them up, no wonder they look dark.....went back and looked at all my alts and all have painted eyes unless it's a translucent visor which works because it's not cut off from the light.....what to do, what to do :tfmad

how about black sharpie for the back of the head?

Black sharpies tend to leave an orange sheen in certain lights.  I've found that black Gundam Markers (thick, not thin) do a pretty good job of blacking out most plastics... they blend in really well.

I'm still not following y'alls aversion to paint, tho ;)

7734, the unpainted head doesn't bother me, his arms are just as grey so it works as far as i'm concerned, i just gotta go find a way to paint these eyes brighter  :tdown

I wonder if they were originally think of having a light-piping effect for his eyes?

Here's what I did today.  I too the head apart and removed the small eye piece.  First, I painted it white and let it dry.  I then painted it light blue. I used paint markers for both paint jobs.
