a question about the Vok from BW.

Why didn't the vok go right before the swarm came too the earth and kill the swarm themselves, cancel the swarm and themselves out completely.  Thus, saving the earth, and the humans.....

Because their super intelligence prevents them from doing something so simple?

again you are missing the point. in the past, earth is fine, humanity is still there, there's no need to restore any life as it hasn't been snuffed out yet. why go back in time to correct a mistake they haven't even made yet at the time of BW? it would make more sense for the vok to restore the lifeless earth in the present time.

you're missing the point, it's an act of atonement. Going back in time and preventing a death you caused may remove that act from history but it does not remove that act from your conscience.

Why erradicate yourself, when you can try to save yourself and redeem your mistakes and keep you alive.

look, i really don't think the vok act like they are seeking redemption for their future crime. if anything, they act like your typical alien race of superbeings who like to experiment on lesser races for the sake of aquiring knowledge.

remember those old Star Trek episodes where the enterprise would stumble upon an alien race of superbeings who were conducting an experiment and then Kirk and crew would get dragged into it? that's what the vok are like. the whole "preserving the timeline" directive probably only came about when they discovered that the beast tf's were from the future(which they probably got from Tigertron and Airrazor).

It is a possibility, but the whole deal with the Matrix thing kinda destroys that theory IMO.

what deal with the matrix are you talking about?

what deal with the matrix are you talking about?

The deal where Prime opens the Matrix and The Swarm evolve into sentient race.  The Swarm is no longer just a massive 'disturbance' raging across the galaxy.  It has evolved into a race, thanks to the power of the Matrix.  Don't you think the Matrix would make them less agressive?  The Matrix DID stop the Hate Plague afterall.  And that was 100% EVIL, same with Unicron.  I would assume that the Matrix is meant to destroy all things evil, should it be the right moment to unleash the power of the Matrix.

i'm saying that the vok's behavior is why the Vok=Swarm explaination doesn't work. they do not act like they are the swarm seeking redemption. they were perfectly willing to blow up earth just because of a few rouge elements, that does not come across as a race seeking redemption.

no, it is the Vok=Swarm explanation that is contradictory, not the cartoon.

and to top it all off, the swarm didn't even destroy humanity in the first place. reread the last issue of G2 comic, no where does it say that the swarm consumed humanity. hell, as much as i hate to side with him, Furman said directly to DiTillio "That is not what happened in the G2 comic". Furman wrote the damn comic so he knows what happened in it.

let's not forget how many millions of years the Vok were active before Prime became aware of them and the countless worlds and races they consumed. Everybody knows they didn't consume the humans, they don't consume organic material, only metallic lifeforms like the TFs.
