Much of my recent "whining" comes from the fact that Has-Tak seems to keep half assedly adressing the fandom - which is not satisfying and condecending.

Now if HasTak took a stand and said: THESE ARE TOYS FOR KIDS - GROW UP AND GO AWAY! It would hurt but we would either accept it or move on - bottom line I could respect the decision.

 

But when you get things like:

MP1 YAY! ---- MP2 - WTF? and then to add insult to injury..... most of the shippments are faulty anyway (inexcusable on a $100 figure)

 

BT/Alts - distribution as has been mentioned before has little to do with Hastak. and more to do with specific stores ordering based on what they see needed.  But Why are the TWO most popular figures shortpacked?  Tracks/Meister - that is just bad business.  Meanwhile we have Swindles for miles and miles WTF? (thats like a spider man assortment with 2 maryjanes 2 JJs and one Spidy per case)

 

Then we get the Beautiful storys for BTs and NOTHING for Alts.  We get NOTHING

 

Toyfairs - HOT NEW MOLDS - for 2005 are Swindle and porko-prowl?!?!

 

Swerve - nuff said

 

G1- TRU Exclusive $30/pop - nuff said

 

meanwhile we get no real communication from Has-tak even just to whet our appitites and make us excited for whats to come. (and so far - i understand the $60 fan-club is pretty much just recycled hash, and misnamed figures....and enrgon repaints)

 

I say just throwing us a little bone every now and then people would be much more paitent, and supportive of Has-tak.

 

As it stands right now - they are doing a half assed job of addressing us - the fandom.  as someone said in a nother post AmericanTFs/Anime - olderfans/kids =

Hastak keeps going halfway trying to appease both with out any conviction to either and in the process is likely to end up loosing both

You see all those words above what I'm typing?  That's too much stuff to type and complain about toys.  I'm not reading that many words whining about toys.

Never in my experiences in listening to TF fandom have I heard so much whining as I do today. Some topics:

 

1. "Hiatus" aka. cancellation of Hasbro reissue line

2. Prices of importing Takara

3. Alternators, and being hard to find, too expensive(?!?), not worth buying(?!?), not faithful to G1...

4. Galaxy Force/Cybertron being a pile of crap and not worth buying. I don't get this one at all, GF/Cybertron looks like the best line they've ever put out since G1.

5. How bad the Energon Cartoon has been, and especially how bad it has been handled by Cartoon Network.

6. Woe is Transformers, aka. stuff is sitting on the shelves and the brand is dying.

 

I have heard other complaints that are currently slipping my mind. Sure, people have always complained, but I am just amazed how much more there is today than before.

 

Well for the most part those are legitimate complaints, but I digress.

 

Fandom Whining, Starscreaming, and Moaning has be aroudn since G2.

Yet, it seems so frequent nowadays because everyone has the Internet. The Internet gives everyone a voice and most people feel it gives them the right to express their opinions and everyone else must read, listen, and understand those opnions.

 

Whining coems with every Fan-Base. It'll always be here. I know I whine sometimes, cause every f***ing person whines at some point when in a fandom.

i think the fandom will never be happy until HasTak makes an all new G1 toyline. the original G1 toys never did the show characters justice so the fandom will never feel fulfilled until they finally get a toyline that's based on G1 as opposed to a bunch of random transforming toy robots that where chucked together from various different japanese toylines.

 

now i know that from 1986 onward, the g1 toyline consisted mostly of original toys but most of them were still far from show accurate and the engineering was still primative by today's standards. the fandom wants HasTak to go back and do G1 right.

Show accuracy is the show's fault. The toys came first, the show is wrong! Demand toy accuracy from the shows!  :tftongue

First off diesel if you are going to criticize anyone with out even reading their posts, then it speaks volumes about you and not the other person.  If you had read my post you would see i was NOT going on a tirade against any toys - what i was doing was offering an observation about why people complain, and provided some examples.  My point was mostly in regards to Hastaks communication with the fans... but hey if you want to spend all your time on an internet message board, not actually reading the posts -- thats fine - but uh i could think of a million better things to do with my time

 

OK - MadHammer - most of the time i really enjoy and respect your comments, but lately you have gotten more and more - well - "Grouchy" - to put it nicely.

YOU seem to whine enough for the whole fandom - however your rants generally have to do with: g1 sucks, g1-fanboys grow up - TFs are for kids stop pretending that they arent, and lately Retcon sucks... dont hold yourself on any moral superiority kick over the rest of the fandom -

 

My bottom line is - Assoon as the board stop being entertaining for me - i wont come on.  As soon as the toys stop being interesting to me - i will stop buying.

 

As of right now, i enjoy both.  But if we are going to gather on the boards to share thoughts and ideas regarding the fandom -i think we should have the right to share opinions both good and bad.

It amuses me to no end that you would come on a message board and POST with the sole purpose of criticizing someone else for "wasting their time posting to an internet message board about childrens toys"
