TRU Sale/Clearance

Recommended Posts

I don't know if this had been discussed before.  But, everyone knows that TRU has been bought.  This means that they will stop operating soon.  Which means that they have to get rid of their inventory, which means that they usuaully go on sale.

I've been to 2 already in my area and have not seen alot of clearances.  Does anyone know if they are going to have a massive sale soon?  Especially on transformers.

None that I know of, everything that is on clearance at mine is what's been on clearance. Although they haven't been restocking the Transformers.

Even if they were bought out, does that mean they have to shut down, depends on the situation. If that was the case, then I'd bet we've got about another 2-months prior to any major clearance.

why, afterpurchasing a multi-million dollar company, would *investors* want to close a chain?

That logic eludes me.

Restructure is the word of the day here.

The realestate investors said that the land the stores were setting on was worth more then the buildings and inventories.  I think they plan on demolishing the buildings and selling the land.

Not all of the stores are sitting on valuable land.  Only the stores sitting on land that is more valuable than the profit margin of the store will be demolished; the other stores will remain in operation.

Actually, they won't demolish the building.  Whoever buys the land, buys the building and would then decide if they'll demolish the building (highly unlikely, they'd most likely renovate it unless they have other plans).

TRU is kinda slow on sales.  Don't expect one for awhile.

When I went to my TRU last, it was thriving.  But it was a little bit of a slow day, considering it wasn't a holiday time.  But when I went holiday shopping :eek It was Packed.  So hopefully the one here in my town will be around for a while yet.

Is this sale in canada too?
