My Transformer collection got me in the newspaper

Recommended Posts

Nah, comic book guy isn't Hitler....was just listing the most radical thing i could think of for when "friends turn a blind eye" -- course, hitler would probably have you shot if you defied him, friend or not....hmmmmm...so it's not the best analogy...bah

You know what, I'm done talking with you. I've done nothin but given common sense in defending a freind who I became freinds with while being a customer. Your personal greed remark was because if you wasnt after those Joes, you wouldnt have gave a Blot. If you just hadnt seen them sold out, you would not have cared. And yes I say the collecting communioty is greedy, when you've seen an adult snatch a toy out of a childs hand at a store or seen the complaints about toys being made for kids you would have the same outlook.

However you insulted me again for no reason and while I l;et the first slip by because your obviously being a crybaby whose holding his breath and stamping his feet about an issue thats not an issue. However your comparin g me to a freind of Hitler over this? Your grip on reality is complatley pathetic. You got PM, I'm dont talking with you here. We're gonna settle this face to face.

And others in this topic, once again I apologize for this little piss ant. Hopefully he will act like a man and answer my pms and no longer keep crying online.

lets all cool it, k? been done with this. this thread is about a TF fan go got interviewed about his grand collection, not about toy stores and hitlers -_-

all i can say is that its a free market, and its not a nice cosy one.

and to Vsabre :thumb ! Nice collection, and good article (though execution was rather poor, reminds me of an anime article that was rather poorly done recently over here, totally inaccurate stuff the reporter wrote about anime) The papers here feature people sometimes and its always cool to know what things people do.

yes

keep the bickering about the "toy hitler" out of the thread and into PMs

no need for things to get nastay

btw, congrats dude

its cool you got recognized for your hobby in the paper :D

i know i'd be way too embarrassed to do somethin like that :P

Don't be embarassed! Shout your fanness to the world! I'm totally going to be a fanboy at a Keiko Matsui concert in June, but that will be nothing compared to the Transformer cons. Must...shop...Dealer Room. Especially for that last trainbot I need. Hmmm... (goes to add topic about needed Trainbot)

I actually registered on this site to comment on this:

I have been lurking around this site for some time now but didn't bother to log in or comment since I was only interested in the news.

I would like to say: I'm a mid 20ish guy working for an international firm as an assistant manager with offers to be directors in several firms. I have a gf who some would die for and own some properties too. I don't look fat and exercise every few days; swimming, badminton and jogging. I love arts, dances and sings well.

And I would like to declare.... I AM A F*CKING TRANSFORMERS DIEHARD FAN!! LET NOBODY AND I REPEAT NOBODY SAYS YOU'RE A F*CKING NERD OR WIERDO!!!

Ok, having shouted that, I would like to say I possess quite a no of transformers myself. The original G1 devastator, computron, and some others which name i can't remember. I once made a huge mistake in my life when i opted to buy a japanese robot then G1 optimus prime when I was very young. I redeemed that by buying the firetruck, the master piece and some other optimus figures hehe.. ok thats all i wanna say. That people's perception be damned, heads up and be proud you're fan!! I was a x-men fan way before the movies came out and everyone scoff at it, now look who's laughing?? Muaahaha!! :tfdance

I love this statement, and I couldn't agree more.

I personally am also a mid 20ish guy as well as both an attorney and a martial arts instructor w/ 15 yrs experience (my main hobby, after Transformers (hey it is better for me, can't really argue w/ that)). I also have a wonderful girlfriend who totally accepts my collection and even watches Beast Wars w/ me.

Basically my point is that we as Transfans are not losers by any means. I feel that I am a perfectly normal guy who just happens to think that transforming robots kick @$$ and that I would rather spend my money on a collection that makes me happy (and which could even be seen as an investment) than on alcohol, cigarettes or drugs (I use none of these btw). I even invested in some nice display cases to make my collection look more sophisticated. I love my hobby and I make no excuses for it. I think it makes more sense to spend my money on things that bring me real happiness rather than on things that bring me false, drug induced happiness.

Transfans come in all shapes and forms and while some probably are losers, most are normal people that just have a collection just like everyone else (better than stamps as was mentioned earlier).

Now that is enough of that I think. My other point is that the picture of Victory Sabre's collection is not a good one. I wanna see some better shots. When are you going to take some pics to post here?? I am sure that I am not the only one to want to see these. If you have the time, please take some pics of your collection, I think a lot of us would appreciate it.

Oy...pics

Problem one is that every digital camera that comes into this house seems destined to break. Problem two is that my room is too small for the amount of stuff in it. My bed blocks the view of a buncha the shelves on the three main wall units. I'll attempt to get some pics up though. But yeah, that pic shows nothing because you can only see VictorySabre and the edge of my Energon Autobots shelf. Everything is way out of frame.

Yeah, congratulations are definitely in order for getting your pic and a pretty nice story in your paper. I would love something like that. There have been some decent points made here, on and off topic.

With that said, if there is anymore trolling or inappropriate discussion, especially about Genocide and/or comic shops that I go to and have had no problems with, I will go all Ns4n3 and issue teh warning... *shew* Sorry, I just can't stand someone's moment of glory ruined by someone with a personal vendetta. :tfmad

Yeah, I mean if I can get a woman to put up with my name, then you guys should have no prob.

Yeah I agree on both points.

Getting in the newspaper was a really cool thing. I really did'nt think it made you look negative or anything. If anything it showed your dedicated.

If somebody read that and got the wrong impersonation of you, then to hell with them. From the times I've talked to you, I've always gotten that your just a really nice guy who enjoys his hobby. Thats how it should be.

As for the guys who are having problems finding the girls of their dreams. Buck up guys, it will happen.
