An idea for how to "movie-fy" Soundwave.

My Alt. Mode Sucks

Recommended Posts

Quite true. The announcement was made that they picked one but not as to what sort of alternate mode it was (other than nobody on the board had guessed it).

My guess is it's that big pizza-throwing steamroller/tank the Ninja Turtles' toy line had back in the early '90s, which would mean Laserbeak and Rumble are pizza-boxes. :D

:pfx Sadly there might not be a soundwave in the movie and no ravage, laserbeak, rumble etc etc....

Actually, Don has confirmed that Soundwave WILL be in the movie, but using some other "non-disclosed" form.

No, no.... Don has verified Soundwave WILL BE a blender.

Me Grimlock:

Soundwave's alt. mode would be a large-screen TV with speakers on either side, connected at the bottom by a DVD/VHS player. The speakers turn into the legs, the TV screen forms the chest, and the head/arms untuck from behind the setup. His mini-bots could be VHS tapes.

Though, the only flaw in the idea is video tapes shooting out from Soundwave's crotch...

epd:

How about the simple way out: don't let him transform.

The things that made soundwave cool were

a) voice/attitude

b) cassetes coming out of his chest.

Metal Maverick:

I think he'd be great as a news van.

I've given serious consideration for a few months about the idea of Soundwave taking the big screen TV alt mode. Good idea, but I don't think it'll work. Not sneaky enough. (Oh, wow! A big screen TV! I think I'll take this to Autobot headquarters and then leave it on some random shelf!)

Soundwave not transforming at all is an option. He's a novelty, anyways.

A news van sounds soooo non-threatening. Not very Decepticon-ish, but may be the only viable option.

Hey, Drifter...considering how often the Autobots and humans fell for the old gimmick of Soundwave turning into a tapedeck (and how often they actually let Laserbeak, Ravage and co. invade the base), I still say the TV thing'd work. Kidding, kidding! I dunno...I realize Soundwave is an enigma (Megatron's personal guard/spy/ass-kisser/etc.), and that for a stealthy 'con, the idea might not work...sadly, I'm thinking along the lines of the old cartoon, and I know they aren't making this movie to appeal only to G1 fans (unfortunate, but necessary for them to make money and draw in new fans). That news van mod. of the Red alert toy wasn't bad (I still hate how much the chest sticks out, but they can change that), but I loved the theme of Soundwave being associated with electronics. If they seriously do the blender, you know Transfans are gonna boycott the flick.

And a tape deck and big screen TV are? I don't think Soundwave has ever been known for his threatening Alt modes. But that doesn't mean his robot mode can't still be pretty evil.
