(?) Devils Due gets the TF Comic license (?)

Recommended Posts

i was really hoping DW/DE would come up with an explaination of why magnus was a white prime w/armor on, for love of primus, please let whoever picks up the license finish at least that part of the story

You mean aside from the fact that the original toy was a white Prime with armour and he and Prime are brothers in the DW continuity?

Or do you mean you want them to tell the full story from the guidebook which said Magnus was badly injured and was given the amour to survive?

see thats my point alot of fans have really gotten into the DW Transformers universe and we all hope that the stories continue even if Pat and DW have to give in and go to another company like Devils Due...... just as long as they believe in the comic series...

and the distribution problem is a Hasbro problem but we most stores ordering first runs of alternators like smokescreen and side swipe - with out the publicity like a cartoon, customers did not buy as many as they expected... hell wallMart didn't ask if they had a cartoon, like energon and the time (6:00 am) thing didn't help either. Walmart just cared that Hasbro had New transformers and saw $$$ - Example.. Walmart had all the new alternators up to Grimlock ready to order long before most were even seen by us.. now they dont have or have had Grimlock and Swindle on sale online and they arent even updated to windcharger....

I just thought that if Devils due wants to make there own mark on transformers like Dreamwave has... they should consider Alternators and hopefully leave G1 and War Within alone... for the time.... hopefully DW gets onboard.

Devils Dew.... could kill off energon and micromasters if they want...

even if Pat and DW have to give in and go to another company like Devils Due......

I can say with 100% certainty that even while many fans would love to see most of the DW crew continue their stories with the new publisher, the moment Pat Lee and the former Dreamwave management are getting involved in ANY way, we're gonna see mass boycotts.

And that's not even about Pat Lee being an abysmal artist. He didn't pay at least seventeen (!) freelancers for months, didn't pay for the license, and put a huge part of his company's efforts into setting things up for that "Dreamengine" bulljive, just so he could cover his own ass up. And then there was that final press release, which was basically saying: "Don't worry, guys, I'm gonna find a new job soon... that's all that counts. Who cares for those stupid freelance artists I hired directly out of the fandom? I claimed half of their work to be my own anyways!"

No. I'm fairly certain that this guy should stay away from Transformers for the rest of his life. Pat Lee < Rob Liefeld, and that means a lot.

i want to know what dw's explaination would be as to why he looks like prime without the armor, if he was prime's brother, shouldnt he look like optronix/orion pax? prime looks like he does cause he was upgraded by the matrix, and then upgraded upon coming to earth. what is magnus's reasoning? i understand that the original figure was like that, but since dw decided to make the white cab an actual part of magnus that simply has armor over it like the toy was, then i wanted a reasonable explaination of why he looks exactly like prime

Fanfic-y answer of mine...

Under Magnus' armor he had always appeared like Orion Pax. He was Gleaming white, though...less colorful than his twin, yet still brimming with pride and purity of character.

In 2003, many of the Autobot's were stricken by Swindle's release of the modified cosmic rust. Magnus and some others were spared. But with the autobot ranks thinned, and more and more Decepticons taking upgraded bodies in the hijacked Binaltech program, something extra had to be done to insure that the Autobots on Earth held the advantage.

They thought Grimlock would be that advantage, but he was torn between his already shaky Autobot loyalties, and the self-hatred of being trapped in a form long considered by him to be a slave-like aparatus for human beings. He was always a predator, a war machine...now he was just a passenger transport. While Grimlock could be the utlimate warrior come battle time, the Autobots needed somebody more reliable to lead them on Earth, all the time.

Thusly, as a willing soldier and brave commander, Magnus entered himself into the survivng Binaltech program headed by the Transformer/Human alliance. He chose to resemble his brohter, Optimus Prime, and in his new soup-ed up body, he hadn't a need for his armor anymore...although he stashed a new set away in case of heavy battle.

In his new form, he is twice as strong and confident as before. He sees eye to eye (literally) with his brother again, can hide amongst the humans, can carry his wounded brethren out of battle, and can lay down the hurt on the Decepticons, Binaltech or otherwise.

This is why he is being released as Masterpiece toy, and why he doesn't come with armor. :thumb

...two birds with one stone?...whatta ya think?

Let's see, for G1 we now have:

- cartoon continuity,

- US comic continuity

- UK comic continuity (which for a large part overlaps with the US comics, but on occasions differs)

- DW comic continuity.

That's already four different stories for G1. Assuming whomever gets the license (DDP seems likely or already has it), will also release a G1 comic, do we really need a new storyline and therefor a new continuity?

[bW-Megatron] I think not, no! [\BW-Megatron]. I really hope the new owner will hire Mick Ralph and Simon Furman to let them continue with their work on the G-1 universe. (The art guys would also be welcome since I cared very little for the art in the two crossovers DDP has done.)

As for Alternators. I so hope they will incorporate them in the G1 story and leave that BT story behind. I thought the 'cosmic rust' eps from the G1 cartoon was pretty lame and really don't like it that this is used for the BT story. I think they don't need to think of some special excuse. Afterall, most of the G1 carmolds are outdated so they're not really in disguise. To adapt to these new times they could adapt their existing forms to the new cars (they did it in the first BW eps as well).

It's reasonable to assume that he looked like Optimus did in his Cybertonian mode before his Matrix "upgrade." (I'd never really thought of that.) So I suppose he was simply reformatted along the same lines as Prime when he went to Earth.

Hrmmm... I dunno!

Shockwave said in G1 vol. 2 that he "adapted" the whole "year 2" line (Magnus, Smokescreen, Red alert, Skids etc.) to their "Earth modes" in preparation for an upcoming invasion.

Ah right. There you go, then! Cheers, Nevermore!
