Actually you managed to make justice to old ironhide.

You could cut his head off, for a more accurate version!?!

Very good though, 10/10. :thumb

That looks really good for a first attempt. Did Ironhide proud Rawhide.:thumb Now if only the G1 version had a head. :tflaugh

for your first repaint, it looks awesome.I didn't see anything wrong with the colors or anythin.

It took a lot longer than I expected (and hoped) because I often had to repair chipped/damaged paint or cote. But here he is, my very first (official) Transformer repaint.

It didn’t quite turn out the way I hoped but I learned what I did wrong. Now all I have to day is find a way to get the paint to properly stick without access to Krylon Fusion.

Pic of robot mode

This looks great, but did you sand your figure before painting? If not, thats the problem. Try taking some 400-grit sandpaper and work the bare plastic over completely, not leaving any glossy spots. See how much better your paint sticks then.

Oh, and by the way, you do know that you can swap out the wheels on spychangers for hotwheels/johnny lightning, etc wheels and axles, so long as the width is the same? Try it out, before I sold all mine, I used the deep wide rims with rubber tires that came on the matchbox premiere and hot wheels real riders, it looked awesome in the vehicle modes.

- washed it (scrubbing it so hard there were scratches on the plastic and the cowspots were completely gone),

- sanded it,

- used a primer,

- spraypainted two layers of paint,

- spraypanted two layers of cote,

- handpainted a final layer of cote.

And still the paint chips.

Actually, one of the things I learned by painting this one, is that its really necessary to severly sand down those parts that come into contact with each other so that there's enough space for the paint. (Am doing that with my current repaint)

I also contacted a local paint specialty store and they sold me a primer paint that fuses a bit with the plastic. Am currently trying it out and it looks promising.

Thanks to you all for the positive replies.

Could be the type of paint also, some paints dont stick as well. But the stuff that fuses with plastic (and the fact that you knew to take it down in the contact areas) should give the project some promise.

So much better than the official RID Ironhide.
