More rumors on TF comics' future...

This is copied from its original post on Seibertron.com here.

RUMORS: This came in an email to us. It sounds very plausible...

Devil's Due & DC are the current publishers are speaking to.

DDP would basically pick & choose stuff from DW's run to continue with and

release lesser stuff as the brand reaffirms it's success. Much of it actually

produced by DreamEngine, but now published by DDP.

DC is the dark horse in this race, no puns intended to the Conan-publisher.

They want to do Cybertron as part of their Johnny DC line of kid's comics. As far

as G1 goes, they want to tie it into the movie in 2006 and not deal with the

previous comics or cartoons AT ALL. They did apparently dangle one juicy carrot

in front of Hasbro's nose tho: full-fledged membership in the DC Universe. Does

OA have enough metal for a ring that big? :D

For the record, Marvel wasn't interested and Hasbro never called THEM either.

There's bad blood between the companies after some remarks Joe Quesada made

about Hasbro & DW regarding the Transformers comics (some crude and sexual in

nature) that are still fresh on their minds. Joe did the same thing to DC after

JLA/Avengers and Paul Levitz broke off all relations with Marvel until Joe steps

down as their Editor-in-chief. And here we all used to think Jemas was Marvel's

biggest butthole.

if cybertron is going to become part of a kids line i bet it will more then likly suck ass.

so will DE write and draw the comic but DDP will print it ?(i know squat about the workings of the comic world so sorry if its a n00b question)

Please, not Devils Due. If their horrendous work on the crossovers is anything to go by, they'll ruin it. However, if it's DreamEngine actually doing the legwork and Devils Due just printing it under the banner of Devils Due, I can take that.

If DC gets it an Teen Titans(the new)/ Energon crossover would be a reailty

Gah. As part of the Johnny DC line, it will be kiddified to all hell and made unreadble. If entered as part of the DCU, it'll be a very hard pill to swallow ~(although we may finally see that Elseworlds story where a Green Lantern crashes on Cybertron and passes the ring onto an Autobot that I've so long thought about!).

Still, TF as part of the DC Universe? Hugely unlikely.

The publishing deal with Devil's Due sounds the most plausible.

Well I wouldn't go by the crossovers for proof. I would guess that the likely candidate IS Devil's Due, mainly because they have worked with TF's with the crossovers and they also have GI Joe, which is very strong for them.

I wouldn't put too much stock into thinking that DreamEngine is going to be involved with ANYTHING Transformers. Hasbro is looking at other comic companies. But my guess is that Devil's Due will get it. And if they do, hopefully they'll get some of the writers from DW.

Wow, nice job restating what the article so obviously says. (Sorry, I read the G.I. Joe comics and don't like it when you TF comics fans bash DD.)

Devil's Due published Dynamite's Armoy of Darkness comic with great success, they could do the same thing with Transformers. :tfgrin

I think they would. Hasbro liked what Dreamwave did with the TF mythos. They may not have said it by wording, but DW jumpstarted G1 again, and some of their concepts have been used by HasTak. Not to mention that Hasbro/Takara uses DW art for their packaging. I think the only bone to pick on is the money and the management, but if that is all fixed up, I don't see why not.

If DC picks up Transformers, they will definitely be from an alternate universe. It wouldn't make sense for DC characters to worry about some punk super villain when an army of gigantic robots decide to take over.

Oh, I like what they do with GI Joe. Whilst I dislike GI Joe a lot, I have picked up a few issues simply for Cobra. From their TF track record, however, it seems they don't have the... feel of the TF's. Maybe they'll correct that, but I'd rather have DreamEngine get the thing back on track.

This seems like BS to me. I can't see DD or any other company vying for the license releasing this kind of information BEFORE a license was given out.

I also agree with Optimus Thunderpants. DD will not do the TF comics much justice. They handle Joe well, but TFs are hard to do in comics and I was not impressed with the GI Joe/TF crossover.
