Idea for Alternators Prowl

Recommended Posts

Greetings TFans members!

This is my first post into this forum. I thought, I'd share my idea for Alternators Prowl with you. I know there are several Alt Prowl kitbashes made out of Smokescreen and Silverstreak. My idea takes this concept one step further. You still use Silverstreak's frame and some of the body panels like doors and windshield. Other bodypanels are however changed that the alt mode looks like Saab 9-2 Aero, which is based on a Subaru Impreza wagon. Here's a scetch of the robot mode:

I've been too lazy to make the alt mode but you can visit Saab's website if you haven't already seen it.

Welcome to forum Protek. The sketch looks great and I've been tempted to ne as well some time out of a plastic 1.24 scale mode. Any thoughts on how you plan to alter the rear of the vehicle into a hatchback wagon?l

Well, getting a 1/24 scale model kit of a Saab 9-2 Aero would be the best option. An Impreza wagon model will also do but then I have to build the front end out of scratch. The transformation of the legs would actually be simpler since the rear window halves can be a solid construction instead of having that sliding construction that Silverstreak and Smokescreen have. The roof panel will be somewhat longer but that shouldn't be a problem.

I tried a similar thing with a ford focus SVT as a skids custom. It was coming along well but then I realised it was taking up far too much of my time and so shelved it for another day. It's a lot more tricky than you'd think, escpecially as this was a die cast car and it involved integrating even the interior parts and modifying the transform. I've posted a pic below but I've made more progress on him since that was taken.

Finally! A pic of Smokescreen's leg with that window out of the way!

I'm working on a digital mock-up of the Alt Bumblebee I'm planning, but all the pics I could find of Smokes have been "intact"--with the foot and window in place.

I hope you don't mind if I steal that leg from your pic for my digi-bash? :)

No Problem DLP. The legs are actually backwards tho - i have some better photos elsewhere i'll try to dig out for you. :tftongue

For several of my upcoming progects I have considered the use of 1.24 scale metal models especially for my G1 Brawn but since I'm planning on custom building the arms, legs, head etc. frrom scratch I don't think it would support the weight. Also I understand plastic is also a lot easier to work with because of all the cuting and sectioning of the exterior components.

Skids is coming along great bluestreak1701, can't wait to see more pictures. :thumb

Bluestreak1701, your Skids project is looking great! I've also planned doing alt Skids, who'll transform into Mini Cooper. I've already got a Mini Cooper 1/24 scale model kit from Revell. The reason for choosing Mini was that G1 Skids was a Honda City/Jazz, which in reality is a subcompact and not a mini-van, as in the cartoon. Mini Cooper is a perfect homage for that.
