They should do the BW comics and the others still then.

If the comic were more readily available in the first place, more people would purchase them. The only Dreamwave comic I have purchased was Energon 19 because it was at Walmart in the TF section. If they did that with every comic series, the comics would probably sell better. This would get the comics in places that are far away from the nearest shop that specalizes in comics. I know for a fact his would increase sales because I live in a rural area and having the comics at a store like Walmart would allow me to purchase them.

I buy all Transformer comics, but I must admit, it does get frustrating to wait so long in between issues. Still, I'd like to see a positive conclusion to this.

This doesnt surprise me, creatives often have trouble making a business work efficiently (yes I know, there are many exceptions ;))

they may thry to build a relationship with Maarvel...like Wildstorm did...though Jim Lee made that call before WS got in the hole....(Jim Lee apparently DOES have a buisness sense or 2). You really can't put all the blame on Pat Lee...I mean look at the Dream Wave staff...they are all about 25 years old save Furman. Comic fans who are living their dream...but unfortunatly they were niave, and went too far. What the shame is that a lot of new young talent just started up, hopefully other companies can pick them up if someone doesn't abosrb DW.

my 2 cents

Well by looking at the article, it seems the Hasbro has not renewed Dreamwave's license so what's the point in another company picking them up. Another company is better off just going to Hasbro and buying the license and picking up all the freelace artist and writers from Dreamwave. That way they can continue with the book and not have to absorb any of the financial woes of DW. That would be the smart business decision to make. And DW owner Pat Lee can sell off the remaining story arcs and creative ideas to the other company that obtained the licnese and take the money to get part of his ass out of debt.

That's what I meant by picking it up. i.e. Devil's Due will get the license from Hasbro.

I always hated seeing the ad "Pick up Dreamwave comics every week!!"

and i'd always say, I'M TRYING I'M TRYING!! dammit.

as for the BW comic, to quote Megs in CoH: "So close... I was SO CLOSE!!!!"

Hmm.

You know, I'm not really into comic books per se (though I do love a good graphic novel), so this isn't such a big deal for me. It is interesting though. Perhaps Dreamwave started to resent too much the fact that they only continued to exist because of the Transformers license. Perhaps they wanted to prove that they were more than just fodder for retcon-loving TF fanboys. But I think it's clear by now that they were mistaken.

Dreamwave's only real draw for me was the artwork, and that was mainly because between Sunbow and Marvel, we hadn't ever really seen G1 characters drawn well (with the exception of TF:TM). Of course there are fan artists on this board and others who draw at least as well as the DW guys, but as far as official TF artwork goes, it was a pretty barren wasteland. (I wonder how many TFans members owe their sigs to DW.)

Personally I never "got" comics anyway. Waiting a whole month for another five minutes of story is not my idea of a fun time. I love the medium, but I think its potential is often wasted. I certainly get that feeling when I read the Energon comics to my son. I thought back over the entire Energon story arc recently and realized that hardly anything of substance had really happened (for the record, introducing new characters doesn't count as a plot point). It just seemed aimless and rambling, and came across mainly as an attempt to squeeze in as many characters as possible.

Well, I'm sure someone will pick up the license for Transformers. Though my son will be disappointed; he had really been looking forward to Cybertron.

Hmm.

Yeah, the Energon comic story was pretty crappy. Megatron just got out of Unicron and it's about to change to Cybertron. WTF???
