Shockblast isn't that bad of a rename.. Personally I think the internet has somethin to do with it.. with all those Shockwave files.. probably Macromedia sucked it up while the people at Hasbro were lookin the other direction..

Trademark conflicts can only occur in the same category (in this case: The toys/sporting goods field). You can manufacture a car with the trademark name "Maximizer", and still someone can put out a toy with the same name.

So when is ol' Shockwave comin' out?

anybody know?

and one more thing,

if "Shockblast" Has shockwave on his liscense plate.

what about Meister? Does it have Jazz on there?

how about the others?

No Meister's plate says Meister on it and it does not say Jazz. I think the reason for that is that Honda has a car name Jazz. So to avoid conflict issues, they just kept the name meister.

Alt. Meister still has 'Meister' on his plate. (although I do and always will call him Jazz)

I wonder other than the possible nod to his G1 name, if Shockblast will be called Laserwave in Japan (B/T) and perhaps they figured they'd do a combination of the two names for the plate so they only have to do one plate. Take the Shock from US and the Wave from Japan and you get Shockwave. Just a thought.

I refer to the toy as Meister...that's the toy's name...This new Alternator, ShockBLAST will also retain his name...I don't care about 20 years ago, I care about now, and now I have Meister and soon to have Shockblast.

:pfx Although this does have more of a case than Armada/Energon did in terms of using the "orginal" names (such as Shockblast and Downshift) in that this is an Alternate universe retelling of G1, keywords are alternate universe and as such, I don't see why its such a strech for "Shockwave" to become a car in Alternators and subsquently be called Shockblast.

I believe hasbro lost the right to the name Shockwave to Panasonic, who has a Shockwave brand discman.

Could be true ... but just for fun I'd like to point out that "discman" is a Sony trademark ... Shockwave "portable CD player." But Sony sure loves it that they've made "discman" synonymous with "portable CD player" just as "playing Nintendo" from the mid-80s - mid-90s meant "playing video games" whereas now people say "playing PlayStation" to mean such and poor Nintendo is forgotten.
