I've recently noticed many transformer knockoffs on ebay and surprisingly in KB toys and Big Lots.

 

I have mixed feelings on these as they are not consistent in quality etc... But then again to get a reasonably decent G1 Gestault for $5.oo is pretty awesome.

 

I got a yellow devestator but the plastic used is real junk I mean the really cheap stuff like they make dollar store army men out of.

 

I also got a Defensor and the sticker work was really sloppy, still for $5 who can really argue.

 

I have a superion with the same afflictions as the other two.

 

Yesterday I bought the Stunticon team and low and behold the plastic wasnt too bad and while the stickers were put on rather slopilly it wasn't anything I could not fix with a little TLC.

 

The motor master's grill was partially not molded but I'm pretty sure another pack would not have that problem...

 

The only bad issue with ol Menasor is that two of his limbs are technobots!! Actually I'm not totally bummed about the technobot limbs because these knockoffs actually look pretty good when not combined and do well as just stand alone transformers.

 

I have a total of $20.00 in Knockoffs and all in all I'm pretty happy

 

I've seen some on E-bay that claim to be the better quality and the devestator is green etc... anyone have any input on buying knockoffs

 

I dont think this could be too illegal or I would not be seeing them in retail stores that also sell Hasbro licensed products.

 

What are some of your knockoff stories?

I haven't seen Ko's in KB, but there are plenty at walgreens

I bought a KO set of Aerialbots and I'm happy with it cause Silverbolt is good quality and the others look like the originals, but it's impossible to form Superion without breaking some parts!

 

I was planning to get the Stunticon/Technobot pack, how good/how bad is it? are the joints OK? or does everything fall apart as soon as you open the box? :lol

 

there's also a Terrorcon KO set that contains two other Technobots so if you buy the Stunticon set + the Terrorcon set + a loose Scattershot you got a cheap Computron :clap

I personally find KO's kind of interesting. No, they're not the greates of quality, but it's nice to have stuff like the G1 gestalts to display, especially if you don't own the origina/hasn't been reissued yet. And at the price you get them for, you don't really care if anything happens to them. I'm considering getting a couple more for my cubicle, for display purposes.

 

Also, sometimes it's neat to have oversized versions of the TF's you like (which a lot of KO's tend to be).

Actually, you wouldn't. I've got all four of the KO Technobots, and they're scaled differently - The Menasor set is I think slightly smaller than the originals, and the Abominus set is a little bigger...

well I have 2 KO...the Starsabre which is just about dead on...and the Lioconvoy is well...ummm...a real cheap KO lol

I, honestly have no problem with KO's, there a big hep for those who never got the toys they want...

I used to collect Beast Wars Knockoffs since I missed the originals, I got Megatron, Dinobot(With BW Grimlock's head and 2 left feet), Rattrap and Tigatron. Also got me a knockoff Fort Max that's just as big as A-Megs. But there were also some stuff that I saw and regretted buying when I was younger, like the rainbow-colored G1 Devastator boxset which had foam packing, the orange cab die-cast G1 prime( Both of these had boxart made with CG, much like the TF Car Robots boxart), the 2 foot G2 Bruticus set(Carded!), and Star Convoy with Green Micromaster Hotrod.

 

Nowadays the only bootlegs I see in abundance here are the bootleg G1 gestault boxsets, a boxset of both oversized minicon Skyboom and Requiem Blaster, an oversized sixbuilder(components are larger than G1 devastator members, but Sixbuilder's head remained the same), and Jap G1 SkyGarry. Just recently I saw a threepack of the G2 Cyberjets, a G1 autobot sixchanger(can't remember the name, but it wasn't sixshot's redeco), and even an Armada Superbase Prime Cab that's catalog-accurate(grey instead of gold elbows) with his BAG painted red.

I found some Gaint Kos cassettes at my DEALS today, and also some duobots I only found one complete set of the three duobots, so one head and leg. So I have to find the rest of them duobots, and also they had a Gaint Ko Fireflight.
