The aerobots, metroplex, bruticus and the stunticons were in proto stage for the Diaclone line when Takara was aproached by Hasbro.

Was that actually confirmed somewhere, or is it just fan speculation? The Scramble City molds (excluding Magnus, of course) pose a significant drop in quality from the Diaclone cars and jets.

Wave 2 of the Minibots are just reuses of the Wave 1 molds. If you want a new mold, a remold doesn't count.

Who are Beachcomber, Seaspray, Cosmos, Powerglide and Warpath remolds of, then?

In an interview with Ono Kojin, the designer of the toys, he mentioned that the combiners were originally designed for Diaclone. I also wondered about that since it is odd that they do not have driver seats.

But then I was reading here that the very later Diaclone toys stopped using the seats because it was difficult to keep including them while at the same time cutting the cost (that is, size) of the toy which had to happen because of the poor Japanese economy at the time. This makes a lot of sense since Blitzwing obviously has no place for a driver. Nor do the Jumpstarters or Constructicons.

Because of this, I have to wonder about some of the later minibots. I would guess that it is someone other than those. I actually wouldn't think that any of the Transformers were designed from the beginning with the Transformers brand in mind until the characters from the movie came out. But I could be wrong. I don't see that Microman "M" on any a lot of the later minibots. But I would think that some of those could have at least existed in concept art for Microman at some point.

Another interesting thing I read on that history of Diaclone site I just linked to was a link to this, the first known transforming toy robot. Has anyone seen anything older?

who still owns the rights to the Sky Lynx toy?

I want to see him reissued...

G1 Issue #10 has him vs Combaticons...sounds like a good battle

Sky Lynx and UM were my favorite Marvel Series reguluar TFormers

Sky Lynx....oh man. :roll (He always seemed like the Season 3 version of Hoist)

I read the comic, he was as lame as ever.

And Starscream got PWND BAD!

Sky Lynx and Omega Supreme are owned by the same company. Which one that is, I don't know.

P.S. Sky Lynx is a blight on TF history and should never be mentioned. :P

What about Ratbat and Blaster's cassettes or even the Triple changers

What about Ratbat and Blaster's cassettes or even the Triple changers

Weren't the cassettes movie toys as well? Plus, which Triple Changers are you referring to?

- Blitzwing was a Diaclone toy.

- Astrotrain was planned for Diaclone.

- Springer was a movie toy.

. All the other Triple Changers were post-movie.

No one. Why would they have to be. They were still pre-movie Minibots. Not Post-move 'wave 2' guys. I've seen pics of at least 3 of the 5 in Microman production and catalogs (I can't recall seeing Beachcomber, but I'm pretty sure I saw Cosmos).

So I'd still go with one of the movie guys as the first one made by Has-Tak for the TF line itself. Though, if you want a TF toy made specifically for the TF Line then Omega Supreme may very well be it, but its not made from an 'official' company.
