Armada Prime

Recommended Posts

You know, I can't hate this guy. He brought back semi truck mode. He has the right color scheme and he's big and bulky. And I think the moving face plate works well with him. Not as much as Masterpiece convoy's but still good. Now I know alot of you hate him but there has to be some fans out there. right?

I don't think many people hate him, actually. I quite like him, but where he really shines is in the combination with Jetfire and/or Overload. Now that is an Optimus.

I only have the supercon Optimus, But he stands proudly next to my 20th Ann.Optimus.

Hate is way too strong of a word to use to describe my feelings towards Armada Prime. Disappointed would more accurately describe how I feel about him. The normal bot mode leaves a lot to be desired as he has little to no real possibility, not to mention he’s not the best looking prime either.

The Super Mode also falls way short of exhalant, mainly due to the Trailer legs which could have cool if the designers did not see the need to give the trailer the auto-transform ability. Then there is the super mode head which all I will say is WTF. :redface

But will all his short coming he is still a cool transformer that really comes into his own with Jetfire. :thumb

normal bot mode is ok

combined with trailer is just terrible, he's a brick

with jetfire he still has no lower body articulation [no knee joints, how come?], but with overload he makes a good display item

I like Armada Prime, though I agree that his trailor is a brick, and I am pretty sure that my auto transform mechanism is long past working order. But with Jetfire, and Overload then he becomes a prime to recon with. But the super mode head is just a little on the odd side of good.

But a good toy overall and well worth the additional bots to make it even better.

You said everything I would have said. :tftounge

Allthough, I will add that Sparkplug is one of the better minicons out there.

Armada Superbase and Supercon Prime's are pretty good. I'm not a big fan of the robot modes of Superbase Prime, I prefer his truck mode, while I like both modes of Supercon Prime. I really do feel that the auto transforming gimmick for Superbase Prime's trailer should have been scrapped in place of a manual transformation and a nicer looking super mode. I really do think that Superbase Prime is like seeing a slight upgrade of Powermaster Prime to be honest. Take a look at my collection pics to see what I mean, I did some comparsions.

if for nothing more, i like him because it finally takes optimus back to his roots. with so many other tranformers with better articulation i can live with having some that don't have the great mobility. i like the suberbase considering it gives you something better to do with the minicons other than just linking them to other figures. the superbase combined with overload makes for one tough defensive battle station! too bad they couldn't find a way to use it in the cartoon.

having him displayed along with my god ginrai reissue i'd have to say it is even with it's lack of mobility it is still a vast improvement. a little articulation is better than no articulation at all. jetfire and overload is just putting a bit of icing on the cake. bottom line is you won't hear too many complaints from me :thumb

I love my Armada Prime, and I say that with great enthusiasm. I think the truck mode looks aggressive and like an evolved version of Powermaster Prime, which I never had. The truck mode's colour scheme is pretty good too, I like it a lot more than the Final Battle version, and I think the gold on the cab looks a lot better than the yellow on the Micron Legends version.

The standard robot mode is pretty good, though I would have appreciated more paint apps in the chest area and perhaps leg articulation that isn't hindered by the rear skirt, but I like it a lot. I don't use the base mode very often, but it's because I don't have the space to display it, but I think it is pretty decent.

Contrary to how some people feel, I like the Supermode a lot. I love the way it looks, tall and aggressive. Articulation is almost non-existent, but then again, Powermaster Prime was the same way. The head sculpt is a bit unorthodox but it's decent. I only wish it had more Powerlinx points for minicons. Also, I can't figure out why one leg missile is grey while the faux one is blue, but I like how it looks, especially with Overload on it.

I tend not to make him into Jet Optimus since it's too tall and doesn't look too stable. Also, I prefer Jetfire as a separate bot instead of as a pair of pants. On a final note, I don't like the auto-transformation gimmick, it put the price point Optimus too high, and isn't all that great.
