I am new here and I thought I would show what one looks like. I did this guy as my first repaint. A diaclone Bluestreak alternator. Not the best job but you get the idea. More pics to follow. Hopefully this pic goes through. been having issues here to get it to load.

Hey Bluavenger, welcome to the TFans family.

As for your Bluestreak, I gotta say, it looks pretty damn nice. The blue you chose looks great with the stock silver.

NICE!!!

Thankyou very much. I appreciate the feedback and welcome aboard. I actually used pactra metallic blue for it. I found the pactra brand paints actually work pretty good.

i LOVE your bluestreak!!! exactly what I had in mind, but i'm leaning more on just blue and silver no black for the car mode... and a few other areas being silver :)

but i want to repaint one with RHD... time to look for a RHD!!! :D

Looks like I'm going for the blue one, while I do really like your take on Bluestreak, D-Unit. Nicely done.

Jag, I'd consider the Smokescreen outlet if I had seen a Smokes in stores anytime in the past few months ... but he also isn't a street version of the Impreza and his head is different (though I guess I could switch heads with Prowl).

I'm a sucker for the challenge so here I go again taking the Subaru apart and burning through some masking tape. I bought the metallic blue paint tonight ... I hope it sticks. I repainted a Prowl from a Silverstreak that I did not strip without major issues, but that was with Krylon Fusion acrylic. This paint is also an acrylic (by plasti-kote), but who knows ... it's actually meant to be sprayed over a silver base.

Thanks for all of the great input!

I dont know what the world is coming to these days, you give someone a nice and easy way of doing something but no thats not good enough, they want to put in some effort and work hard to acheive things, i guess the 80s are truely over ;)

Nicely done bluavenger ... thanks for the example and welcome to the boards! And painting Tracks into Prowl is very interesting ... I have a spare Tracks laying around that I'm intending to put a new body on.

Hahaha sorry to let you down Jaguaratron! :)

So I found a RHD Silverstreak Alternator but I don't really want two apparently identical Silverstreaks on my shelf so I'm thinking I'm going to make Bluestreak. I'd like your input on which version to do. My options are keep him silver and spray the hood black like in the G1 cartoon which is very simple to do ... or I could take him apart and do the original Diaclone scheme, blue body with silver hood. I'm a little more excited to do the Diaclone scheme ...

I'm just nitpicking, but all three colorschemes for the Fairlady Z were available in the Diaclone line- not just the blue one. =) As for a recolor- I'd say the Black hood colorscheme, but use a Smokescreen body, so that it has a racing bodykit and spoiler. So that it'll end up as a street racer- the black hood can be done to look like carbon fiber. I don't think blue/silver looks right on an impreza.

The color scheme looks silly on any car ... who rocks a silver hood? Fortunately that shade of blue is very close to the official color of the WRX. While I see the merits of going with the "race car look" carbon fiber hooded silver Smokescreen repaint as Bluestreak, I'm not going to do it for a couple of reasons: (1) I have a spare RHD Silverstreak, not Smokescreen, and (2) I don't believe the black hood was originally intended to be an unpainted carbon fiber hood because that style is a much more recent phenomenom. The original Bluestreak is by all accounts a stock street car with an unfortunate paint job whereas Smokescreen was a racer.

You wouldn't happen to have a picture of that Prowl in robot mode would you?
